How does your appraisal of these games differ from Roger Sharpe's list?

For me, my main gripe is that Bally Quarterback / Kick Off should be a 3-star game (###) because I still think it's one of the best EM games ever, but EM can't really compete in the era of emergent solid-state.

    From Play Meter - Volume 4, Number 21 - November 15th 1978

    It wasn't made in 1978?

    It's an interesting list, but I don't think it's fair to compare a 2021 evaluation against a 1978 evaluation.

    that's literally the point!!

and what are you saying wasn't made in 1978? The reviews from from 1976-1978.

I was responding to the question. My appraisals differ in that they weren't made in 1978.

We have 40+ years of hindsight and thousands of newer titles to look back on.

    ok Captain Nofun

His list of 2.5 Star Williams are way off…

Argosy, blue chip, rancho and Aztec are all pretty damn good games!

    Old school gottlieb bias?

Roger is the man...and has an incredible memory. I wonder if he would stand by these ratings today, or if he would adjust them with the passage of time.

Power play seems a bit high and Stars is too low but this comes down to opinion so can’t really argue.

No Fireball? Years (decades) ago that was argued to be the only game worth over $300

Lost world a bit high, did he like the artwork?

    More like just over 1000.

Unfortunately, the bias would be exerted against the publisher. Play Meter was not robust enough to be immune from advertiser pressure.

Yeah, I wasn't paying attention. I thought I wrote hundreds.

I concur that Prospector is a brilliant game. The theme is reflected in the gameplay much more than most EMs.

Did these have actual article reviews associated with them? Or just the number rating.
