Quoted from JudeRussell:If you had cable television, you either had a set-top box with a rotary dial, or later on a "remote" with a long umbilical, and a row of pushbuttons....[quoted image]
Yep, Might have hacked a bunch of those in the early 80's.

Had one of those in Allen Park, Michigan. The rocket was built first and then a few years later, the 2nd, longer slide and connecting walkways were added. It was the same set-up in your picture.
@jasonp, loved that Rocket ship as a kid! The one in Kiwanis Park in Flora Illinois is still standing, though its now painted in the high school colors of orange and blue (and looks like it needs to be painted again). It seemed so high in the sky back then. Probably can't build one today, violates too many safety codes I am sure. Great memory!

I remember that one! We actually used to call it "Rocketship Park". Lived in Allen Park until my parents divorced when I was 8. In fact, Rocketship Park was where my dad introduced my brother, sister and myself to our new stepmom and 2 new stepbrothers.

That's pretty cool. We lived on the West side of Detroit near Michigan & Livernois and would go to the "Rocket Slide Park" as we called it, every few weeks. I think the sign said the name was Pinecrest Park.
"This week in baseball" was the sportscenter of it's time.
That show and The Baseball Bunch were required viewing on Saturday before your little league game
