You have come into some disposable income via an unexpected lottery win this week. There are a number of pinball machines you have targeted for purchase. Which one will you ultimately invest in at the present moment? Would it be perhaps a pre-order on JJP's upcoming 'Pirates of the Caribbean' or maybe their previous 'The Wizard of Oz', 'The Hobbit' or 'Dialed In?' Or perhaps the present rage on 'Iron Maiden' or 'Batman 66' will persuade you to fill the coffers at Stern? Then again with CGC working wonders on their re-makes you may opt to play catch up with a Medieval Madness, Attack from Mars or a pending Monster Bash announcement or anticipated Cactus Canyon 2019 declaration?! Those with an eclectic hankering may jump on a 'Houdini' or 'Alice Cooper' or find this found money the passage to finally grab a superb-condition Cirqus Voltaire, Lord of the Rings or The Addams Family. Finally those who are skilled at how to stretch a dollar may find 8K is sufficient to secure not one but TWO Stern titles at current market, or hold on for a KINGPIN announcement.

As of today I am myself torn between the CGC re-make of ATTACK FROM MARS, Stern's BATMAN66 or JJP's THE WIZARD OF OZ. (Love DIALED IN too which I'd also consider now) Will hopefully get all of those but thinking now of the sudden windfall. How about YOU?

I'd buy a really nice Gottlieb Outer Space and spend the extra 7.5K on restoring/fixing the rest of my pins..

Dialed in. Most fun I’ve ever had in pinball. Wife’s favorite as well, so it’s a win-win

For new pins, nothing matches DI. I wasn't sure what to think of it until I played one. It just blew me away. It feels like a classic B/W pin but in a premium package. Shoots all felt great, gameplay was pretty easy to figure out, loads of great details, world under the glass thing, and just fun to play. Name is kind of dumb/misleading but whatever. Wish it wasn't so expensive but at least you are getting a lot of features for the money. Can't help to think of a bunch of other great games you can get for much less.

Totally agree. Maiden might be right in there but it doesn't feel like a B/W game, obviously. Blows GOTG and Star Wars away by all accounts. however it is easy to pick up and fun. Houdini is very challenging but is an amazing machine, and fun - although the theme doesn't seem to be for everybody. Basically, you can't go wrong!

I'd probably pay off my Alien before they go out of business.

    #10 5 years ago

    Star Trek (Stern)

    #11 5 years ago

    Barb Wire

I would wait and see what's next. If CGC announces MB that would be what I would get.
Or still wait till the New Elvira 3 is shown.

Batman 66 is a complete fail in my opinion. And I really wanted it to be good. It was my dream theme. Now I don't want to play or even look at it.

    #13 5 years ago

    AC/DC Luci Vault.

    LTG : )

Erak, did you have a problem with the actual game layout or the incomplete code? If the latter I am told on the active BATMAN66 threads here at Pinside that the issues have now been resolved.

    #16 5 years ago

Dial In Chaos in Quantum City

    #17 5 years ago

I would wait to see what the next CGC remake is or possibly get the AFM remake and buy the next one down the track a bit.

    #18 5 years ago

Cant stand DI. Alice Cooper or ACDC Luci.

    #19 5 years ago

BSD has been at the top of my wishlist for so long, I'd probably pull the trigger on a nice one.

Save the rest of the money & wait a year for the IMDN code to get finished. Throw in some extra cash & buy a premium.

WOZ is outstanding: Can't go wrong. Miss mine.
AFMr-LE: I have one on loan right now. Not much of a fan at first but it's growing on me quick and am now figuring out how im going to buy it.
BM66: Cash Grab. Yet, it is fun in it's current code state. I still feel it's price is way over-inflated for what you get.
JJPOTC: Ive played the prototype approx 20-30 games and absolutely love it. One of the best new pins out - i'd say it was THE best new pin to come, but that was until i played Iron Maiden

Of those 4: i'd go with JJPOTC then AFM - but if its buy today, it would have to be AFMr as you could be waiting awhile for a JJPOTC, and do you really want to be first in line for that one? Next would be WOZ 2.0 Standard edition - ive seen and played the RR and owned a standard; no reason to upgrade IMO as the 2 most important must have mods for that game are not on Woz RR which are the lighted up drop target and munchkin mini pf protector.

The game layout. And lack of new features. The batcomputer mech is horrible imho. Just all around a clunky mess. They should have rethemed lotr. To BM66. Or at least put more into the game. The callouts are lame. And it should have more sound clips and callouts considering the mass amount of source content.

    $8000 -

1/ the Diner that was listed here for $2200 last week, in Los Angeles.

2/ if you must have a new one, either AS pro or IMaiden pro or maybe GOTG pro. $5400 delivered

That’s $7600 - save the other $400 towards a tidy EM or SS machine which you can still pick up for $500 to $1000.

3 Winner Pins for $8000. Ish.

I've seen/played potc, iron maiden, tna, star wars, di, bm66, Alice Cooper. I'd go with Houdini. For me it was the funniest to play..

    #28 5 years ago

Dialed In or Alice Cooper for me.

    #29 5 years ago

If I had no pins I'd buy two $2500 pins and one $3000 pin.

Personally I'd buy a TNA and blow the rest on my wife (keep her happy).

    #30 5 years ago

def BM66 for me right now…but if I didnt have it already, a perfect condition, fully modded tron legacy. what a pin! love it so much

    #31 5 years ago

i would love to win the powerball jackpot and buy ALL pins produced..

    #32 5 years ago

    Dialed In!

    #33 5 years ago

I’d buy 2 bsd’s One for me and one to sell in a yr.

    #34 5 years ago

I won 1k on a scratch off once. After filling out the prerequisite paperwork and getting the money, I received a tax form from the state at the end of the year and approximately 50% of your winnings magically turn into taxes.

So really, your question is, what pin is the best bang-for-the-buck for 4k.

As mentioned previously in the chain, BSD no question. Maybe a Shadow second, with an alternate translite package. And if you manage to find a seller who doesn't know what they are doing, maybe a whitewater.......

    Ain't that the truth.

    ---

I won $400 once. It was funny, we had a "white elephant gift exchange" at Christmas for my job.. and I was the last to pick anything off the table. I could steal anyone else's prize (mostly booze) or just take the only remaining gift (white envelope) from the table. The envelope had two scratch-and-wins in it. I really didn't care what I got. Tossed them in my car, figuring I never win anything on those. Went to a bar after the event.. and one of my coworkers wouldn't stop bugging me to scratch them. So to humor them I grabbed the tickets from the car.

Both tickets were winners. $400.00 on the $20 scratch card and $20.00 on the $5 card.

For some dumb reason decided I needed to declare it on my taxes even though it was below the amount where you needed to give them any info. I think I've been angry about that ever since lol.

In the case of scratch offs, honesty is NOT the best policy.

If I ever win again, I hope it's $750. Here in PA, anything under $800 they just give you the cash and no forms required. Otherwise, the gov'ment will take their pound of flesh.

    #37 5 years ago

Amfr, it on my list if I win.

Yep, lesson learned lol. I'm not sure what I was thinking.. like *somehow* they would be able to find out I had won.

Next time I'll just take the money and be happy for anything that doesn't require a form

    #39 5 years ago

If I had the room, i'd try and get a few more system 11 games. EATPM, Diner, Cyclone, Dr. Dude would be some on the list.

    or

    AFM

    or

Maybe a TSPP + a The Sapranos if it was cheap enough.

    #40 5 years ago

If I had 8K in pin money to burn, and it had to be a NIB, I’m thinking AFMR or wait and see how IMDN Premium turns out. If I didn’t have one already tho I’d say MMR all day.

    #41 5 years ago

    AFMr LE.

    #42 5 years ago

    Dialed In or AfM.

    Metallica pro
    Twd pre/preem

    umm... iMaid.

I can never make up my mind. Dammit! 8k isn't enough!

    #43 5 years ago

    No brainer,Houdini all day!!!

    #44 5 years ago

I would get the Dolly Parton, TMNT or a super nice Safe Cracker.

    #45 5 years ago

Taxi and a MET pro if this is a conversation about any pin. But if this is about NIB I would go with either dialed in or Iron Maiden depending on whatever could get to my door faster.

    #46 5 years ago

    AC/DC Premium Vault

    #47 5 years ago

    Aerosmith Pro here. 100%

    #48 5 years ago

    I'll take 9 System 80B projects. Don't care which...

    #49 5 years ago

    Dirty Harry and Sopranos (used)
    Dialed In new.

    #50 5 years ago

CGC #3 or Iron Maiden, although Houdini and Dialed In are right up there.
