Best of luck to the kitty and you. I had a similar situation happen about 10 years ago and had to bottle feed the kittens to health for weeks because the mother cat wouldn't let them nurse after me touching them. What a chore that was!
I ended up saving them all and took them to the local shelter. 8 weeks later I checked in and they said they were too feral to adopt and they were scheduled to be euthanized. I ended up taking all 6 back (after paying mandatory spay and neutering fees) and getting them homes at a couple of local horse ranches.
I'm not sure how long they lasted with the fires and coyotes.....but I feel I had to do the right thing.
Heck, I like even feral animals better than most people.
