Your labors are used as part of the seller’s reasons to buy game.
Who would guessed a good paint job by Boilerman could elevate the price so much!
Honestly, As a fan I would maybe valued Dave's work at half this amount.

No offense whatsoever to Dave (Boilerman) as I proudly have a Target Pool he did - but any game touched by his skilled hands, and also including work and etc. from Herb, and Steve Young, et al, is a magic game indeed. It's like hitting a Tri-Fecta.

Yeah, but I'm not sure it's $6,000 worth of magic.

Maybe that boilerman should get a raise then. Or at least health and vacation benefits.

i did that as a favor and think i did it for 600 maybe less.(only repainted the mt cab) really don't want that kind of attention. i do it as a hobby not a business. i like to fly under the radar.
i am picky on who i do work for lately.

When I bought my first game in 1982 and brought it home with me.

When my game moved with me out of my parents home and into my studio apartment.

When I bought my second game.

When my ex left me and I spent the night playing pinball and drinking beer. Every time I play No Good Gophers I feel like I'm connecting with an old friend.

When I bought my tenth game.

When I won a tournament for the first time.

When my son won a tournament for the first time.

When I bought my fifteen game.

When my wife started playing.

When my wife won a tournament for the first time.

When after 35 years of collecting pinballs I was able to buy a new game.

When my wife asked to split the cost of a new in box game this year for our 10th anniversary!

Never had a cabinet repainted. Figured if I did one, I'd have to do them all. Tempting.

"Boilerman" is a top notch restorer and a really great guy too. I know he's very modest as well, but he's one of our superstars for sure.

I remember a guy on here posted he was looking for a guy near Pa. to paint his CF cabinet maybe 6 months ago, and I said to look up boilerman.

If it's the same guy, I'm sorry.

There's actually several guys in that area that will paint cabinets. One guy is someone I regard as the best restoration guys anywhere, but he's usually swamped with work, and his services aren't cheap.

Could be worse... at least everyones work is being respected as quality.

But really for the price - that game is not even that fun to play

That is how I meant the thread. If you notice the game is not complete yet and has no playfield shown. All that money asked is because of our buddy Boilerman.

Sorry Dave if I unfairly put you in the spotlight, but I am sure you know I meant it as a compliment.

However, if it sells you got to put your prices way up!

Or buy every crappy Captain Fantastic out there and start restoring them.

steve i knew you meant it as a compliment, and thanks. if it was posted here for sale and he put my name on it i really would not be bothered. it is on flebay and that is the spotlight light i don't want. i do these repaints pretty cheap compared to some of the big guys. i only try and do them for other collectors for there on use and not to turn a profit. it is just a hobby and would like to help others when i can. most know that i really like the restoration part of the hobby and if i can restore a game for someone so they can enjoy it, it is a win win for me.
