No, Mexican Coke is the original. Made with good old cane sugar. All that other stuff is BS....

Actually, "Colombian Coke" is the original. You know, the kind that really had coke in it!

And one more rock-n-roller check out.

Here’s how you really know you’re old. I had a painful blister on my right index finger. I came to find out that it’s called a “digital myxoid cyst”, and it’s caused by osteoarthritis. Basically the joint degenerates and leaks fluid into the surrounding skin. The cute PA at the dermatologist removed it for me, and asked me to come back for an annual full-body skin cancer check. Oof.

That. And when you are told you have to start taking blood pressure medicine

Oh, and yes, when YOU start realizing you are old enough to be Little Cutie's grandfather.

I have moved from "30 years younger" to "If I were 40 years younger". (sigh)

Has anyone gone to see Top Gun Maverick? If so, what did you think?

I have an IMAX theatre near me. I'm thinking going to see it in IMAX.

What hurts the most is now that you cannot do very much about it, they are all smiles and friendly. When I was younger, they would not give me the time of day.

+1 on a "regular" screen this morning. Damn good show!

The IMAX is only 2 miles from me. I think I will try for Wednesday when most people are at work ( or used to be at work).

    Time slots are 12:15pm ; 3:35pm; 6:25 pm.

I think I'll aim for 12:15pm and hope there are a lot of empty seats.

EDIT: IMAX is 15 miles from me. The standard theater is 2 miles away.

Every day you look at yourself in the mirror and think, " Hey, I don't look too bad, don't look too old... yada yada.

Now, whip out that cell phone and take a selfie. You are gonna say, " This is not me. I don't look this old...yada yada." But you do look this old.

You beat me to it. I liked the fried clams too. You can still spot an old Howard Johnson’s building. Someone may paint it differently, put out a different sign, and use the building for something else, but it still looks like a HoJo.

So many businesses we never thought would go away:

    TWA
    Pan Am
    Montgomery Ward
    Sears
    Kmart
    American Motors
    Spiegel
    Burger Chef
    Howard Johnson
    Gottlieb
    Williams
    Bally

and many many more, I’m sure!

    Nice rundown.

Not exactly independent companies, but Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Saturn. "Not your father's Oldsmobile" had been circling the drain for a while. But Pontiac was a surprise.

    Zenith TVs. RCA TVs.

Radio Shack ( I miss my Radio Shacks ).

About the time I discovered that Red Robin sold HO JO style clams, they were dropped from the menu.

Howard Johnson's has special meaning as my aunt started working there when I was young. She and my uncle were from Florida and the most fun me and my brother and sisters had. She has passed on since then and I always remember them and her in her uniform. Getting to old I guess...

    Zayre's
    Woolco
    Oldsmobile
and all the arcades that I went to.

I always wondered whatever happened to Pete's Wicked Ale.
They were one of the top microbrews, and apparently just fizzled out.

They were acquired by Spoetzl Brewery in 1998, which later became Shiner (bock). They focus primarily on brown ale which is what Pete's was. So they bought their competition and sold them side by side until 2011 when Spoetzl phased out the Pete's brand and rallied/marketed around Shiner.

Ok. Thanks for the information on that. I've tried Shiner, and thought that all their beers tasted very watery. Not unpleasant, but as if they brew beers, then cut them with water before bottling!
