I think it was 1956, maybe '55, Ford Motor Company was going to try and apply some safety to its cars with a padded dash and seat belts. It did not go over very well.
I don't know about all other cars, but the 1958 Corvette came with a padded dash, but it was more of an appearance thing ( I think ) because seats belts were only offered as an option, IIRC. And sun visors on the Vette were an option until 1960 when they were made standard.

Damn man, You got to know that during the 80s and 90s I was working 7 days a week and attending college. For all those years I did not see many movies and this is the first time I have heard of Kelly Lebrock.
First, you put my eyes out with this pic.

Welch was before the time when all the actresses thought they needed fat lips. Welch looks like she is living with the lips she was born with. Kelly looks like her lip puff job has worn out.
