Here's 5 I currently have lined up.

ACDC prem
BSD
Spiderman
Metallica Pro
Simpson's Pinball Party

I'd love to stick a TZ and an Iron Man in the line up, but I don't know where. I guess TZ and Simpson's are similar and BSD/IM are similar

#510 5 years ago

If I could have 5 in my lineup and money was no issue.

Tron Le
Metallica Pro
MBrLE
MMr
SS

I am close just missing first and last but I have owned them in the past and they are the two pins I miss the most.

#511 5 years ago

1- Twilight Zone
2- Flash Gordon
3- TNA
4- Tron
5- BSD

Thanks

3. LOTR

One of these: DI TWD SM WW
And of course keep 1 place free for a project-pin

I am almost facing this question in "real life" seeing as how I am thinning out the collection.
Have already sold Star Race, Tri-Zone, Royal Flush, Laser Cue and Cybernaut.

"On the fence" machines include On-Beam, Dialed In, Disco.

The definite keepers?
Time Fantasy, Roller Disco, Close Encounters, Sinbad, Hollywood Heat, Rock On.

Should I sell the Dialed In (PRO), I would probably pocket half the money and then spend the rest on a
Harlem Globetrotters or BSD.

And THAT would round out the collection at seven, which would give me more room and more money in hand with a still fairly nice collection...

Wow this thread is still going strong!

#516 5 years ago

Everyone get your list in I’m gonna calculate the top list, only ‘top 5’ no honorable mentions will count.

Because it's a good topic! Though I have a few friends with dozen+ pin collections, a lot of us have constraints (space, money, interest...etc) that keep us from getting to those levels, and keeping us in the 'few pin' collection, so 5 pins is a very realistic number for many. It also forces one to think hard and choose between games.

My GF and I met in a pinball arcade which had over 100 pins across all eras. We never gravitated towards any given era, and we currently only have space for 5 (though we have 6 pins and put one in my parents' basement), and we also have some budgetary constraints which prevents us from going wild.

Therefore for our 5-pin collection, we tried to touch each SS era with a game that we could afford but also was a game we both enjoy and represents their respective era decently enough while remaining unique in the collection.

Stern - SM
WPC - Congo
Sys11 - Fire!
Early SS - Gorgar
Wild Card - Disco Fever (in lieu of EM)

However, if money wasn't an issue, I'm sure the collection would be...

Stern - MET/IMDN/SW/TWD (any one as a Prem)
WPC/CGC - MBr
Sys11 - WW or BK2K
Early SS - EBD
Wild Card - DI

I love this thread. I'm also limited to 5 pinball

#519 5 years ago

I believe a lot of us gave thought about going down to 5 games for multiple reasons.

#520 5 years ago

Five of any seems pretty good to me after trying to come up with two, but it's amazing how hard it is to choose even with five. Anyway, here it goes:

1. TNA. Have it and love it. Great for the quick three minute games playing with and against the wife (no long waits while the other is playing). Wife loves it too, so not messing with that.
2. BM66. A+ theme integration and deep code. Fun, light-hearted pin for the family.
3. TWD. Have played it on location and loved it. Not sure if it would be loved by the rest of the family though.

**gets tougher now . . almost impossible****
4. Medieval Madness. Fun pin for everyone and easier than AFM and between TNA/TWD I think I have enough tough pins.
5. Spider Man. Need a Ritchie pin I think and this one has a theme that will appeal to everyone in the family. Tough choice over ST and SW though, I could see changing my mind a lot on this one.

The biggest issue with this list for me is no JJP. All of the JJP pins appeal to me on some level and I'm sure I'd enjoy them but I'm pretty sure I don't want a wide body and DI's theme keeps it out of the top five for me. Wonka, on the other hand, might become a no-brainer top five for me (top 3? Top 1?).

Twilight Zone
Cactus Canyon
The Hobbit
The Walking Dead

I don’t have enough games on POTC yet but it could potentially take one of the five slots in the future, the only question is which one would I part with.

So as this thread has evolved, along with tastes... Do we think it's better to go back and edit our original 5? Or post a new 5? I'm thinking the latter... It's interesting to see how specific peoples' taste has changed.

#541 5 years ago

2 Years who, I said...

MET Pre
TWD Pre
Fast Draw
AMH
Tron

Today, I’d say

Maiden Pre/LE
TWD Pre/LE
Fast Draw
Big Game
Beatles

I think these 5 would provide a fun variety of gameplay styles to keep me entertained for a LONG time.

Quoted from jonesjb:

If someone had time, it would be cool to see some stats. I see a lot of the pinside top 10 - MM, MB, TZ, ATF, LOTR, MET, etc but also some others like Shadow, TWD, SW, and BM66.

Year ago I said:
TZ
MET pro
Congo
Shadow
FH

Mostly the same but Congo probably not going to hold up. Love it but might have to go to make room for another. Thinking it would be a good trade for Funhouse since they have similar layouts. Fish Tales slides in for now. I'm not sure a long time keeper but having a lot of fun with it for now. TZ and MET are set in the far corner of the room because they are not going anywhere. Shadow is not bolted to the floor but not many games could take it's place.

The agrement with the other half is for two pins on the small pre determined area on the house.

I currently have WOZ and Indy and the opportunitty to get a really nice sw premium with only a 100 plays. Decisions , decisions.
