Amazing taste!!
This is damn near impossible. But here it goes
Walking Dead
LOTR
IMDN
Shadow (I think its Eddy's best pin)
I haven't played it yet, but JJ's potc looks incredible
Hard to say, as the industry is fortunately still going on with more companies, more new pins a year. So Hard to be definitive.
That being said, I recently bought an Alien LE and an Houdini and i can say that I’m pretty amazed. They have some common points, original layout, tough/tight shots, deep rules, fun and one more game factor.
In my top 5 currently.
Have to mix up the eras a little -
Sorcerer - Just fast, fun, taunting
Twilight Zone - deep rules , lots of toys
Old Chicago - pop bumpers waaay down...
Iron Maiden - one of the best new games
Medusa - different layout, cool game.
Left to right in order that I purchased them. Hi Deal I have had for almost 40 years. STTNG is my grail game. Tee'd Off because I got my friend into pinball when he got NGG and this one might be the only one with a custom color DMD. SWEp1 well, it's the last from Williams. TAF will soon be added because it is my daughters favorite.
3 I will never part with.
Hi Deal
STTNG
TAF (when it comes home)
Leaves 2 for me to consider while I have these.
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:I would try to go with machines that played very differently from different eras.
System 11: Pinbot
90s DMD: Star Trek TNG
90s DMD: Attack From Mars (Remake)
Modern Stern with Video: Deadpool
Modern Other Manufacturer: The Hobbit
I believe these would all play very differently and be a whole lot of fun!
I'm going to drag this one back from the dead too and change my answers.
1. CGC Attack From Mars Remake
2. Stern Star Trek
3. JJP The Hobbit
4. Bally/Williams The Adam's Family
5. Data East Jurassic Park
It is interesting that when I did that I immediately went to 5 different manufacturers.
TAF is my number one, it dose not get as much play as it once did, but It will never leave. Simple, Genius, a Classic!!
LOTR I love the theme and books / movies, everything is so well integrated and I've not reached Valinor yet
MET LE or PRE One of Stern's best, Fast paced smooth flow and Lyman just dropped a code update to make a great game even better woohoo!
AC/DC Le or premium, Steve Richie return to Stern pinball was sooooo worth the wait! love it!!!!
TZ Pat Lawlors best work Timeless theme, so many shots, magnets and a model's favorite machine
Honorable mention goes to JJP's WOZ it's a work of art and has so much packed into the game, what a great entry point for a company into pinball, it changed what was acceptable and made Stern up its game, competition is a good thing! remember Rolling Stones and Avatar haha.
The longer I am around pins the more I crave variety. I'm changing my plans to, a machine from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and an oddball. This can be done without spending like you would for 5 collectors quality machines. For me, that would be:
1980s: Black Knight 2000
1990s: Jurassic Park
2000s: The Simpsons Pinball Party
2010s: The Hobbit
Oddball: Revenge From Mars
Machines from 4 different decades that all play differently and have different manufacturers.
70/ 80's Harlem Globetrotters
90's Judge Dredd
Oddball Safecracker
2000's The Simpsons Pinball Party
2010's AC/DC Premuim
nice variety is what's needed not all the 'must haves' .
I’ve reevaluate my list
-AFMr LE simply the best pin and the topper is tops
-Woz RR LE the nicest looking, most well built, best lighting, fantastic code
-TNA I don’t think TNA is better than most games, picking it because it’s so different and fast paced with great lights, sound and music plus interesting rules and just enough code
-TWD pro it’s f-n awesome fun killing zombies and intense rules can’t be beat must have custom sound callouts
-DI LE this was a hard choice because I love Met and STLE and Tron but to me DI just has a bit more going on with subways, magnets, the SIM shot.
Honorable mention STLE Met pro and Tron
This thread got resurrected this week! I'll play, but my list is only based on 3 months in the hobby as a collector (but 4 decades as an on-and-off player). I have 2 of these. The others are based off of arcade & bar play, and lean toward more modern pins because I haven't played enough of the classics. They don't all match my wish list, but there are reasons for that.
LOTR -if they ever made a vault, I'm in
Beatles Gold -love the theme, the old school style and fast play
Star Wars Pro -love the theme and great integration, although this one really beats me up
AFMrle -I find myself always playing this on location, but my wife doesn't like the martians as much
DI -it's just fun
Honorable mention:
GOTG Pro -I'd love to play this with the sound replacement mod by @cleland
Cyclone -I played this a lot in grad school, so have fond memories
TOTAN -My wife really liked this one on location, and if she's happy playing pinball, I'm happy
Jersey Jack pins are all excellent and beautiful. I hope the rumored Willy Wonka (1971) continues that trend. It would replace DI.
With so many great Many great pins out there and the number of new launches , 5 is not an easy decision. I can oly have two at my apartment, agreement with my other half
There are a couple of giund rules that i use:
- theme, it has to be loved by the family. IM is one of my favorite pins but I have two kids and pretty sure WOZ works better here
- code, shoots. On a small collection it is good to have a game that you can play for points or just go for the modes Journey. It gives you different ways to play and different challenges.
- avaiability - usually i prefer huo games that are avialable in good condition. The new game of the year will be available for 20% less in two years. No need to rush in a small collection
- mix music themes, movies themes and classics.
-long games and brutal short games as SW.

Sw premium
IJ TPA
GOTG pro
Aerosmith premium
With price no object:
1. TZ - will never be another pin with so much on it again
2 Batman 66 SLE - still on the fence on this game but theme is A+++ for me and love the SLE cabinet
3 BBB - love the combo of colors, drop targets, kick back and original theme
4 AFMrLE - only played an original AFM once and then bought one of these - awesome game with updated parts and the topper is bad azz the way it is integrated
5 Metallica LE - only played this one a few times on location but really liked it and would want 1 music pin
Honorable mention:
1 - DI - love the pin but very similar to TZ and TZ theme beats out disaster theme
2 - IM Prem/LE - this is close to Metallica for music pin but seems like a lot of adjusting needed and mechs not designed the greatest
Many years ago when i first started buying pins i met a man who told me he needed to sell a couple of games and remarked its so hard to choose its like asking me which one of my kids i like the most
Found that very strange at the time unfortunately I'm now of the same thought
To name 5 :::: id lose sleep trying
Mine pretty much changes every 6 months.
Present mood:
-Deadpool (really surprised at how much I love it)
-Stern Star Wars
-Dialed In
-Iron Maiden
-Black Knight 2000
In the last two years I have only bought the pinballs that I liked or wished to have. I recently bought my second tom. Right now I have four pinballs at home and for my top 5 I would like to add a spiderman vault.I'm hesitating to keep x men ...
Xmen ¿?....
Deadpool.
The walking dead.
Theatre of magic.
Spiderman vault.
