Games guests love but not necessarily for yourself:
Silver strike bowling or target toss
Linked cruisin exotica or Daytona
T2 or big buck hunter
4 player mame cab

#102 1 year ago

I forgot about SmashTV - that’s a must include !

#103 1 year ago

Inferno
Slither
Bouncer
Samurai
Chiller

#104 1 year ago

House of the Dead3
Defender cocktail
Millipede cocktail
Galaga cocktail
Tempest upright
Asteroids Deluxe upright

I have owned these six for a very long time

I love the cocktail machines and am tempted to buy more as they are usually reasonably priced and way more fun to play with friends/guests.

My list probably differs than most because I’m a black and white arcade guy (although I saw some Sea Wolf love).
Mine would be:

Blue Shark
Sky Diver
SEGA Frogs
Sub Hunter
Sea Wolf

Death Race 2000?

Quoted from girloveswaffles:

Trying to decide if Baby Pac Man is a pinball or a video game be like:[quoted image]

It’s a pinball machine.
You have to think of the video game as the video mode on a DMD.
You can not advance on the video game portion unless you play the pinball part. Hence it’s a pinball machine first, video game second.

Baby Pac-Man is awesome. I will never get rid of mine.

You can absolutely progress through the mazes without playing pinball. You play pinball to earn things within the video mode part of the game, as well as score points.

The most important thing you want to do with the pinball portion is earn power pellets so you can eat the ghosts, but it is not necessary.

We have had tourneys where you can not play the pinball portion. You have to get as far as you can in just video mode. Tons of fun.

Just took this quick pic of mine that I restored. ⬇️

Interesting. Can you explain to me the strategy of how you do that? I’ve always found that you can not advance on the arcade side until you advance on the pinball side.

No my friend, you can play and play and play and go through all the mazes, just so long as you clear all the pellets and don't die. No need to play the pinball portion.

#120 1 year ago

After reading through all of these it occurred to me you can almost guess someone’s age by their top 5 games. Here’s mine:
1) Donkey Kong
2) Galaga
3) Missile Command
4) Track & Field
5) 720
Born in 1971
If you’re interested in top 10, keep reading…
6) Centipede
7) Pac Man
8) Marble Madness
9) Jungle Hunt
10) Tempest

Berzerk

Quoted from mjg417:Im shocked not a single person included excitebike

I said Playchoice 10 in my opening salvo. A playchoice 10 is after all an Excitebike with the option to play 9 inferior games.

#123 1 year ago

I can't say these are the my "top" picks but I find these are the most "fun".

Millipede
Punch out
720
Operation wolf
Super hang on

#124 1 year ago

Smash TV
Narc
Moon Patrol
Donkey Kong
Mortal Combat

#125 1 year ago

One of the prototypes was in a convince store (i think at the time it was a Circle K) in Bellflower California. I got to play it a couple of times.
It was fun. Good controls, and at the time, a very unique game play. For the time the graphics were on par with Atari's system 1 games. the sound, not so great though.
Two things I always remember is when "Fatso" showed up and kept saying in a warbling voice "Where's the food! Food! Food!"
And the bouncer saying "I love my job" at the end of a round.
Hard to believe that this was made by the company that also made Turbo Sub.

For those who list games like T2 or Smash TV: when you play them, do you just keep continuing whenever you die/lose all your lives? Those games just seem way too hard. Repeatedly continuing on a game with that feature ruins the fun for me, but with games so hard, you stand no chance, even if you give yourself a few credits.

Playing T2 on MAME with my mouse, trying as hard as I can, I can't even get through the first damn level on one credit. It's like that game flicks a switch, decides "you've had enough time to play; now it's time to put in more money," and destroys you. Imagine if a pinball machine just shut off the flippers after x amount of time.

I have a T2 Arcade1up. It does not have good replay value (at all) but it is a favorite with my kids friends. That game is designed not to be able to be beaten on one quarter. I had a hard time getting through to the end of the game with unlimited credits and still was unable to beat the final T-1000, but in fairness my buddy shooting it up with me is usually my 6 year old, so that might have something to do with it. There are some very cheap "escort" style missions that take many tries to pass.

I've always been partial to Atari vector vids, especially color;

Quantum (the only one I don't have)
Star Wars
Tempest
Black Widow
Space Duel

honorable mention;

Battlezone
Red Baron
Asteroids
Block Out
Tapper

I believe there’s a guy on youtube who did a play through in SmashTV on 1 credit but it is an extremely difficult game . Fun though ! Once you play through the brawlers ( Simpsons , Ninja Turtles , X-men , etc… ) I’m usually done for a good long while but I can’t count how many times I’ve taken SmashTV to the end and I never get sick of it - fantastic game !

As someone who NEEDS some arcades, here's what I'd get:

1) Q-bert (played this non-stop in my uncle's house growing up) really need to find one
2) Joust
3) Golden-Tee
4) Rampage
5) Killer Queen

It is likely extinct, given that it has never surfaced after all these years.

#140 1 year ago

I'd have to go with:

1) Track & Field ... if anyone has one for sale near NH, call me
2) Tron
3) Joust
4) Pengo
5) Star Wars (with the ESB board switch)... which I used to own and sold it for pinball

#141 1 year ago

1. Centipede (which seems to be far less popular on this forum than I expected)
2. Galaga
3. Robotron 2084
4. Tempest
5. Stargate (I was so terrible at it, maybe there would be hope if I owned it)

#142 1 year ago

Honestly I am quite surprised that Robotron showed up as much as it did, and just like you that Centipede wasn’t as popular!

LOVE BATTLEZONE. My father owned one when I was a little kid. Super fun game with great replay value. Played it till it just plain broke...it sat not working for several years, I paid to have it fixed, worked for a month then broke again. I have no idea what happened to it.
