Hey Jim, can you pick me up a few things while you're there
Quoted from Kineticross:So here's some point / objective ideas for each machine in the tourney.
Blackjack:
Points: 500,000Medusa:
Points: 1 million
Ouch, most league people don't break 100K/120K on Blackjack and Medusa maybe 300K.
I know I'm not a great player but I'll bet only the cream comes near 500K / 1M.
I hope these games get videoed.
After all these years in the hobby this will be my first show also. I don't get out much and I hear pinball people smell funny.
Maybe I should re-think this.
I had a great time yesterday from about 11:30 am to 5 pm. The Sanctum crew running the tournament section was my hang-out. The Free Play area was fantastic. You started with ToM, SS, TAF, MET and Creech with ColorDMDs. Jim told me they put one in South park at 1:00 am or something. But every maker in every era. I have not played some of these in many years. Thanks everyone for sharing.
Vendor area have everything from LED, Mod, game cutouts, playfields, backglasses, every coil, manual and sleeve you could ask for. Mike's area had all the latest Stern game, Nellie, a couple of WOZ and of course the Hobbit with Jack near by. I saw Lloyd but didn't bother to say hello since he didn't have the dog but he did Mug Jim. P3 and Full Throttle, very interesting to see the new stuff and even a virtual tent.
Great setup for family people with rides and all. Magicians, stilt walkers and face painters. The Sanctum guys were a bit punch drunk and talking about getting KISS faces but could not decide who was who. There was an outside flea market, but only two trucks with old projects and game-room stuff. Cheap projects stuff is just not as plentiful as the old days.
Our local Arcade and Pin collectors group NEACF was well represented (yo Mel) and the Sanctum crew everywhere. Many old faces and a lot of cool new ones. This was Friday during the work day and I can't see how it won't be considered a success. I hope this happens regularly so now everyone knows what to expect and do.
I did not see anything bad and I hope it continues until the end.
Quoted from eabundy:Guys show your support and buy some pintastic t-shirts.
I should have done that. Oh, Eric your PinBot was awesome. The coating is a perfect color but the close up rainbow effect a cherry on top. A must see in person.
We should have a novice section at the show. You demonstrate how to break down and setup machines.
9:00 EM - removing heads & keyed harness plugs
10:00 Hinged heads, blanket and strap
11:00 Drilling a lock
Have a handout with common tools to bring.
1:00 Social game rooming / the value of friends - Now that your hooked invite people. You may need them on your next run.
2:00 Advanced staircase moving - Why an Escalera is cheaper than back surgery
Buying your next car - Will a pin fit in a . . .
Quoted from Quint:I know you're joking but I would love a "owning a pinball machine 101" type of seminar.
I plan on volunteering next year for set-up and breakdown with learning all I can about the process in mind.
Half joking. After so many years of doing this I don't have enough back strength to do something like this.
But since I have don't teaching I can do a white-board and repair theory
8:00 Game diagnostics are there for a reason, use them first.
9:00 Why is that bulb stuck on? Transistor testing 101.
10:00 Why are there two balls in the shooter lane? Trough theory switch and opto.
I'm sure Derek is laying low for a reason so don't let "you know who" know he's talking to everyone else.
Nerdy, be careful when boob uses the word Rubbing he is getting himself worked up.
Oh, Eric, never use pinball wizard. Everyone is sick of that. If you're going to go Van Halen then Panama is a good choice. It will get James C going pretty good.
But then this is after work bar talk
