Um Dan, I just noticed your town. I was there Fri/Sat at Zoar... Pretty sure that was Charlton. Small world.
A year or two ago someone made some nice Pinside ID badges for PA. I'll do a forum search and see where that was.
Found it...
Thanks David. I'll be one of those Fri 7am guys... 3 or 4 machines.
Mike, as long as you don't barf, fart or overall foul a room (because 2x of us like that in one room would be too horrid for the maid ) you can crash in mine.
Quoted from Taxman:After all these years in the hobby this will be my first show also. I don't get out much and I hear pinball people smell funny.
You and me both. Being doing this since about '88 and although I've done my share of dumpster diving and warehouse crawling, it is my first show. Big kudos to the crew putting this on in the NE area!!!!!
I am stoked. I'll probably be in back spasms all day from humping hardware but it will be worth it. About 2 hour ride south for me so gonna be an early AM to get there for 7am.
Force, I'll go look if I have the resistor. If not I'll bring a spare Sys 80 supply for you to BORROW
See you in the AM.
Got 2 supplies in my box (including a full set of System 80 boards out of an Amazing Spiderman) if plan B don't pan out. Just put them by the door to load in AM.
Just got in about 10 minutes ago,,, oh my lord,, off the hook. Guys did a great job!! KUDOS!!!
I didn't play a 'lot' of pins, although Dannunz did catch me playing hobbit (above) sneaky bastard.... Never saw you take that.
What I did do was had a ball rummaging parts bins, shooting the crap with folks I've only known as avatars for that last umteen years.
But my most memorable was playing a few rounds of Whoa Nelly! with Greg Ferris!!! How freeking cool is that? Also got to meet and chat with Denis Nordman, Roger Sharpe, Alan Davidson just to name a few.
Oh and lets not forget Melissa and Chris from Cointaker and Art from Cometbulbs!!!
Derek, Gabe, I bow.... You guys pulled it off.
I tell you Ben, was not a ton of vendors but the ones there really stepped up.
Mayfair and Cointaker had a buttload of inventory there. I bought a lot from both and both had good discounts. Even scored a 9+ Hyperball glass out of Steve's discount bin for $50.
Also, Jersey Jack was selling Inviziglass at buy 1, get one at half price OR if you had a machine in Free Play and wanted glass for it, it was $100 off the $300 regular price tag with no shipping. I wanted a glass for my Demo Man and he had no wide glass on hand and still honored the deal and next day shipped me one for the show price and no shipping!!!!.
Pringrafix sold me a full set of side blade art and backbox art for my STTNG at about $30 below website price.
I saw that on one of your machines. Good idea.
As for holes in the line up from sold machines, maybe keep a lift close by and shuffle machines sideways to close gaps as the weekend progresses. Folks won't notice the side isles getting wider.
Quoted from ForceFlow:A raffle is a nice perk, but if you sell a game and the new owner is insistent about removing the game, they're not going to care about you being entered in a raffle or not.
+1
Also, even though the game sold, you did go though the effort of humping it down, setting it up and letting folks play it. And fwiw, I brought 3 games AND purchased a VIP package and never put in for free passes for bringing in games. Free passes were useless to me. Raffles were useful.
Remember the folks bringing the games in are already supporting the event. The $35 early out was a good dis-incentive to leave mid-day. The empty spot issue was more of a 'holes from the previous day' than a mid day pulling machines out.
Enforce the 'keep your machine running' rule.
Saturday AM, slide machines inward to fill holes.
Those two alone would do wonders.
There were machines broken/shutoff/nocredits the whole time that should have been moved out. If the machine can't be played, then it should be out in the flea market or back in your trailer. IMHO.
