I will be at York again this year with family in tow. I will also be bringing along a Sure Shot for free play and for sale.
I will be bringing a Sure Shot for free play & for sale if it doesn't sell beforehand. I also have a WWF Royal Rumble that is very clean and has the alternate translite that I would be willing to sell or trade if we can work out a deal prior.
Quoted from SkeebWilcox:If this year's IFPA tournament is run in the same manner as the one last year, I hope that only ONE PLAYER will be allowed to be on a machine at a time. When I walked back to the game bank last year and saw four people playing on all machines at the same time I just walked out. Why even have a tournament if you are not going to run it in a decent and orderly fashion?
I'm confused as well. I played in the IFPA tournament that was run on Saturday. It was a head to head tournament and every machine in the building was in the "bank", including vendor machines. Machines were agreed upon by both players. There was no "bank" of games for the IFPA tournament. Perhaps you are referring to something else?
Quoted from SkeebWilcox:This was not last year. '14 and '15 were like that, but last year was a select bank of games back in the left hand corner (I remember an Addams Family being one). I went back to play and every machine that had been designated in "the bank" had more than one player on it. I left. Will not even bother this year, no matter what the format is...
I have only attended one York show, which was last year, also known as the year of the gun shop fire. I believe the bank you are referring to had Champion Pub and Demolition Man as 2 of the games. Not sure of the rest. These games were located near the "back entrance" where they handed out prizes and also the same entrance where the gun shop fire could be seen. This bank of games was NOT for the IFPA tournament. This bank of games was provided by the York organizers to hold "fun tournaments" like split flipper.
Quoted from pinballtec:If anyone cares, and Rich is cool with it, I'll be bringing Demo Man, Champion Pub and Baby Pac Man again. If fate smiles upon me, maybe Hyperball. If not, maybe Hyperball.
Baby Pac for sale?
Are you looking for an adult only? My almost 14 year old daughter will be with us and she doesn't play pinball. Last year she sat near the concession stand for most of the day and played on her phone. This can be an option if everyone is OK with it.
Quoted from ibuypinballs:Has anyone heard from Otaku (Steve). He started this thread and has been MIA for months.
He's laying low. He will be at York.
Quoted from joefox22:i have some i can bring down to the tournament or we can meet sooner since we are close Have like 20+ sheets taken off sterns etc since i have invisiglass on my games. How may you need/looking for
Thanks Joe! I think I need like 3-4 pieces. I'll check tomorrow and let you know.
Quoted from rkahr:Did you call the local hotel and actually talk to somebody at the local hotel? The first time I called I got auto-routed to their call center which couldn't see the show rate. But, they transferred me back to the hotel front desk and from there I got one at the show rate.

I called directly to the hotel last night, they are sold out of the promo rooms.
Quoted from chuckwurt:What was done last year?
Last year was a one on one match play event. Double elimination I believe. Once you had a match called, the 2 participants walked the entire floor trying to find a game to play. Both people had to agree on the chosen game. Once game was chosen, flip a coin to see who starts.
I'm looking for an Iron Man or Addams Family. Let me know if you are bringing one to the show. Thanks!
Yes for sale! I love it but I'm out of room. If I ever expand. My basement I will definitely grab another one. The game is super tough on 5 ball play.
too-many-pins - good to see that you will be able to make the trip now based on your post from earlier today....
Quoted from too-many-pins:I feel like I have been typing all night about this and I need to get my trailer empty in the morning to go grab a lot of "junk" woodrails that resurfaced from an old contact this week. I bought a bunch of the "junk" machines sold at Silverman's auctions a few years back from him a couple years ago and he contacted me with more for sale this past week.
I already know there will be nothing worth trying to save in the lot but the parts will help dozens of other machines live on. So I need to make a drive & drop some cash this coming week to save some more parts from the landfill. The last thing I need already being "too-many-pins" is another load of machines but I can never pass up a chance to save machines or parts. I call it a sickness - my wife calls it just "totally nuts" or CRAZY!
Worst yet is I am also working on "phase 2" of my warehouse deal from a few months back. Shortly I might be sleeping in the doghouse!
Anyway - time to get some rest!

Quoted from too-many-pins:I can't wait to get some space back and was really hoping York would help me with that but it just doesn't appear to be "in the cards" for this year. I still have not given up but I am running out of time!

Quoted from too-many-pins:Now back to the York Show - sadly things are not looking any better for me being able to attend and set up. My trailer is still full of my sisters stuff and I called them last night and their answer was "we are still trying to get things figured out". With set-up day two weeks from today I just don't see having time to get enough stuff ready for the show. Without the trailer I have nowhere to "stage" what I want to bring so it looks like I might just end up dropping stuff off to the guys I have stuff for on Friday and chalk it up to another year family BS has kept me from setting up at York. Very frustrating for sure but life tends to toss me a lot of curve balls! I will keep trying but if my trailer isn't empty by Monday I think I'll finally have to give up on the idea of setting up again this year.
POSTED ON 9/11/17
Quoted from too-many-pins:York Show is getting closer every day and my trailer is still full of my sisters stuff so it is looking less & less likely I'll be able to bring a decent size load for the flea market area. I am still considering taking one space and bringing what I can in my van but I am not 100% sure yet. My issue is I have a bunch of stuff to drop off to people at the show and some stuff to pick up from people so it seems like I am going to have to be their both days anyway. So I am thinking about just taking one space and setting up small.
I know no one really cares but I just feel the need to vent! For some reason setting up at York always seems to be an issue for me and so far most years I have not even been able to attend my local show which really bums me out. Still trying but not looking good! Such is life I guess?
Quoted from Schnollms:No one really answered my question from a few days ago. Is anyone asides from Dave and Pinphilla brining good quality wedgeheads? Also can someone post the link for the google docs spreadsheet.
Thanks.
Quality? Debatable perhaps. Does my Sure Shot qualify?
My Sure Shot just sold so that will no longer be making the trip. Now I'm going to bring my awesome Conquest 200 with a white powerball, for fast and furious play.
Quoted from rmarket:We don't stop anyone from setting their games up at any time. Don't feel like there is a 10 AM Friday cut off that you have to make. We try our best not to turn any games away from the free play area.
On the cutoff subject, there is no cutoff for game registrations, so keep them coming. http://www.theyorkshow.com/game-registration.html and even if you don't register you game, you can still register when you get to the show.
Rich,
Not sure how much it matters, but I pre-registered Sure Shot and that has now sold. Instead I will now be bringing Conquest 200.
Quoted from 1stpinballdave:Jeez. I was going to do a Sure Shot for the show until I saw you were bringing one. Oh well ...maybe Allentown!
Dave
York is still one week away. Allentown is over 7 months away....
Quoted from Schnollms:And trust me... those 7 months will fly by so fast. It's been almost 5 months and it feels like it was yesterday. I'm making a bet that the 2018 Allentown thread will be up and going within a month after York.
You mean this...

DiCarlos has the best pizza in town, correct? That special pizza they make where they put provolone curds on at the end is so damn good!
Quoted from insaneinthedrain:Hitting the road in a few, looks like it's going to be a great show. Thanks for the early pics guys to get us excited.
And no rain!!!!!
Insane,
Text me at some point today so we can meet up. I met you at the tournament but I need to match a face with the Pinside username.

That's every pinball machine currently in the house, minus the new games from vendors. Enjoy the pin porn.
Quoted from ForceFlow:From the price cards in the photos that I can see, they seem slightly high like at most shows (likely to leave room for haggling), but nothing too crazy.
What he said for the most part. Quite a few games at good prices. Some games like a beat up Hurricane for $2200 is steep.
Quoted from Lovef2k:Can anyone tell me if Starship Fantasies brought a Strikes and Spares backglass or pf? Won't be there until tomorrow,
Thanks
If there are any EM experts at the show, could you please call/text me. I have a coupe of questions I would like to ask. Thanks.

Quoted from emkay:^^ THIS! Not your typical Mexican restaurant at all, El Serrano's is amazing.
Looking forward to attending tomorrow!
Don't fail me Matt!! Sitting down now at El Serrano!
Quoted from Coyote:First day went really well, I think!
I had a blast, met some new folks - still wish I had a lot more folks from Pinside there.
My games did okay - interestingly, the kids and youngsters that played Nudge-It seemed to understand and do better at it FAR more than older adults. I thought that was amusing.
People seem to have an issue with contacting owners if there's a problem. About six different times I walk up to a game that wasn't working properly, and people there trying to figure out why - and eventually walking away (sometimes turning it off, sometimes not) without calling or texting the number on the game. Strange.
My TZ had a couple issues - interestingly, out of the blue, in the morning after about 10 games, a flipper started sticking. Had to loosen and ajust the flipper bat. Just a smidge, and after that, no issues with the flippers.
Looking forward to tomorrow!
I texted 5 people about broken games.
Quoted from emkay:The pressure's on! Trying to think if I've ever had a bad meal there in the twenty or so years since I got hooked...
Y'all staying for tomorrow or headin' back tonight?
We are staying the night. Dinner was great by the way!
I'll be there at 9am tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you guys!
Quoted from mbaumle:Bikers actually started to come into town tonight. Some of the roads nearby were blocked off to bike traffic only. Traffic wasn’t bad, but the road closures made things unnecessarily difficult.
Correct. My no bikers comment was directed at Skip who asked if any were trickling into the show.
Witnessed something bizarre yesterday. There was a kid(14-16?) working on a Rollerganes, coil was sticking. He pulled out a can of WD40 and unloaded on it. Before I could offer any suggestions or guidance someone else stepped in to tell him that wasn't a good idea.
Quoted from PinballBeerGuy:I am looking forward to Todd Tuckey's video of all the neat stuff at the show.
I don't recall seeing him there either day and I was there both days in its entirety.
I just hosted the first and very successful pinball tournament in the state of Delaware. Shall we attempt a show too?
Quoted from poppapin:Know of any good venues? I'm in if it's not too far south.
I could probably find something in New Castle DE. Maybe like a VFW or Moose Lodge.
Quoted from Psw757:Wilmington would be a good spot that is centrally located and still in Delaware.
Being in the middle of I95 corridor will draw from north of ny all the way to va.
I think it's a great idea!
Putting a lot of pressure on me!
I just finished organizing and directing the first tournament in DE and I also have to find 2 more dates before 12/31 so Delaware can qualify for the IFPA state championship series. Although, that just triggered an idea, maybe one of the events is a "show" and a tournament in one!

Quoted from weaverj:i'm telling you, you need more incentive for free play games than just waving admission. that doesn't cut it with most people, and imo, that's what's holding the show back.
how many free play games were there? 100-125? allentown has at least 200?
the new hall was awesome. definitely stick with that one, if you can.
More incentive? What does Allentown offer incentive wise that York doesn't? I've brought games to both shows and I don't recall any extra incentive from Allentown. Hell I don't even get a raffle ticket for free giveaways.
Quoted from weaverj:not sure i was complaining. i just said i'd like to see more games. i even made suggestions that could make that happen.
95-99% of people that walk in the door at a show didn't bring a game. they're not supporting the show? again, alienating people because they didn't bring a game is a great way to kill a show. i don't think peer pressure is the best solution here.
was there a best in show contest or anything like that? i think that would be cool. free play games only; can't be a vendor machine. have a first, second, third place. some kind of prize for each. i'd be into that for sure.
Yes there were 2 best in shows awarded to free play games.
Quoted from wvpinball:Thank you! It was truly MY pleasure!! I hope that Show attendees enjoyed this game and that I was able to share my passion for pinball with others.
The game was truly enjoyed by the masses. This was my first time playing it and I thoroughly enjoyed to the point I want to own one day. Your pin was out of my price range that I was willing to spend last weekend, but it's well worth the asking price you had listed. Thanks for bringing it.
Quoted from poppapin:Yeah, any updates?
Updates are here.
