Looks like I’ve joined this club. Last night WOZ was on - sitting in attract mode - for about an hour when I began to smell a burning odor.

I came into the room. Playfield lights were on (can’t remember if they were cycling/flashing or not), monitor was off.

Further examination, I found the the power board was fried. :-/

Original owner. July 2014 build.

This thread indicates that JJP knew this was an issue with the original driver design? If true, I wonder if they’ll work with me on this?

Quoted from Vyzer2:

That sucks!
I have the very same coil (or whatever you call it) and never changed it out when years ago it was first brought to light. I dont keep my game on for long because of this. Interested to know if JJP works with you on this. GL

Well, based on the $$$ that I had to spend for 2.0, I’m guessing I know the answer. But, we’ll see.

Little update -- the board is costing me around $270-ish shipped (somewhere in that range). I have no idea if this is discounted or not.

Do you guys think the old board is repairable??

Sorry to see that. I ended up having to pay for a new power driver board ($270)... and it turns out the power driver board took out my CPU board to an extent that was unrepairable. So, had to buy a new one (a little over $300).

An expensive incident :-/

Is this area of your board chared?
