So into the playoffs we went.
I had to play David Riel (world #14), Zac Wolland (world #85) and Ben Clement, an Arizona guy who was a really good player.
First game, Riel chooses Star Light and Ben Clement steps up and smashes 1,300,000 the first ball!! The highest score in the whole qualifying was 1,350,000 .... so we all think “well, we’re playing for second place...”
So 3rd ball rolls around, Ben has got it up to 1,550,000, and Riel has got 1,310,000 as well! 2 of the highest scores of the weekend, in one game.
I had 550k up as I started the third ball. I got on a roll and started MB after MB. Ended up with 2,200,000! Highest of the weekend. Much to my surprise there was a big group of players gathered and watching and they all clapped at the end which was pretty fu**ing cool. I was pleased with the game as it had a lot of control and composure, which is something I’ve been working on.
Alas, that was the highlight. As happens in classics, sometimes the ball runs your way, sometimes it doesn’t. Next up was Supersonic and I barely touched the ball and got 0. It all came down to the last game on Aztec, which was brutal and I only managed third.
So it ended up: Ben 6, Zac 6, me 5, Riel 4.
So I ended up 17th overall.
Bit of a shame after the massive Star Light game, but overall pretty happy with it.
