PHOF? I always wonder what type of pins are kept in the back or in storage over there. Always great to see old pins still running and being worked on.

There’s a vid on YouTube where one of the workers, Sal, goes through the warehouse.
There’s like 6x Capt Fantastics stacked on top of each other. Why anyone needs that many Captain Fantastics is a little beyond me.
I’ve met that guy a few times here in Vegas, he no longer works for Tim.

Atomic Testing Museum is pretty cool if you still need stuff to do in LV, and haven't seen it already.

If you find the link please post it or PM me. 6 CF! Damn! It’s crazy what some people will keep in storage.
Enjoying all your pics of the West. Thanks for posting Travel Odyssey.
Leaving Las Vegas ....
7 nights, always something to do.
A tally:
Money spent on gambling: $0
Money spent on shows: $66 (Steel Panther)
Times driving down the strip: 0
Times visiting a strip casino: 1 (to see Steel panther)
Money spent at Starbucks: $80

Money spent on booze: too much.
Lol
Stayed at the Downtown Grand - recommend it. Good price, free parking, nicely renovated, good location only a block from Fremont mall.

I’m always fascinated by the huge solar arrays you see on I-15 just over the California State Line.

It’s called the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility. All the mirrors reflect sunlight at a central collector (there are 3 of them) and this boils water to drive steam turbines to make electricity.
There are .... wait for it ... 173,000 mirrors. Imagine walking into an engineering shop and saying “hey, can you make me some mirrors?”
“Yeah, how many you need?”
“Ummm .... one hundred and seventy three thousand...”
“shit!”
Very clever. It makes enough power for 140,000 homes at peak time.

Every time I drive by there I wonder about the manhours spent to keep the mirrors and collector clean in the middle of the desert...

I heard that the mirrors heat molten salt which then heats the water and that they had a big problem with birds flying through the reflected sunlight and and instantly being vaporized. That’s just what I heard. Not sure how accurate that is.

Yep, according to the info I read, approx 6000 birds a year get instantly vapourised when they fly into the extremely concentrated beams of light. POOOF!!
ouch!

Back in the city of Angels.
Went to Nimbles for some NimbleChilli (TM) last night. Spicy delights for all. Got some time on Stars and Star Wars Pro.
Today we dropped the Pinbot off at the depot out near LAX. Of course, the LA traffic lives up to its reputation. Even the carpool lane was a parking lot.

As long as you didn't roll into town singing that Journey song, we're good!
Tonight we went to Eric’s Ericpinballfan house in Anaheim.
Eric had a little gathering with some good eats and drinks put on! About 20 punters showed up for pins and chat!
Eric had a cool Champagne Fire, 1 of 70 made for the Hilton Hotel chain with a stained solid timber cabinet (no cabinet decals) He also had a rare euro mini-pin, 1 of 5 protypes made before the 94 soccer World Cup.
Danni loved playing the shuffle board game!
Thanks for having us around, Eric and family!

Then we went around to Odins for our traditional OC EM beat down!
Danni took on Odin while I took on NimbleNuts. Games to the death!
Epic games! Some real cliff hangers!
There’s a lot to be said for games like this, where a whole 4 player game can take less time than one ball on Metallica ....
Always great times at Odins!

Sorry about the cold weather today. I actually debated wearing long pants but did go with shorts and a t-shirt as usual. Still, it is barely 60F this morning.
It was a little chilly wasn't it?
Thanks for stopping by everybody! Keeps the old machines from getting arthritis when they get played like that.

Yes, the SoCal temperature last night went as low as like 65 degrees F so the locals are freezing.
I’ve never seen Odin in anything else but short pants until last night ...

No doubt! We do do some crazy things in this hobby. Many of those old games got shipped in. They just don't regularly show up around here otherwise.

That IS shorts weather.
Here in Wisconsin, around October when it get's below 40º people bring out the sweatshirts and light jackets. When it get's back up to 40º in February or March they bring out the Harleys. It's funny what feels warm once you get used to the cold.

It was 110 in the shade here yesterday, then the 60 overnight felt almost chilly.
Then we headed off to play in the Orange County Pinball League meet at Bill Ungs house. Bill created the saucer mod for AFM, you may recall.
Lots of Pinsiders in attendance, Azmodeus Aurich mikeincali Ericpinballfan among others! Some good players too like Jonny Modica and Bob Matthews.
I had a pretty good day! Played 7x four player games and won 5 of them! Came 2nd on Party Zone, it’s be so long since I played one I forgot the multiball strategy. And came a dirty 4th on CC as I’ve never really played one seriously before.
But you gotta be happy with 5 wins outta 7.
Danni unfortunately missed out because they forgot to put her in .. but no big deal, she was doing schoolwork anyway.
Then we went out for dinner with NimbleNuts and family! Booom!
Good times!

No, we haven’t been there as yet. Must go there next vegas trip.
We saw a lot of Joshua trees on the Reno-Vegas run. It’s funny how they are in clumps... some places there are 100s of them, and then you don’t see any for miles ...
