Quoted from rotordave:

Drove 250 miles from Houston to Dallas today. Very easy drive, two lanes minimum all the way.
Observations on driving in Houston:
- turn signal use is optional and few choose to use the option
- on the freeway, F150 crew cab trucks can squeeze into gaps the size of Corollas. Or at least that's what the drivers think
- the speed limit is the absolute minimum starting point for everyone, even little old ladies
- it is mandatory to stay in the middle or left lane until 100 yards before your exit, then you pull across all the lanes at high velocity and exit as you please. Preferably while not exercising the turn signal option.
Haha!
When we drove to Galveston yesterday, it was Sunday, traffic was really light, and there were 3 big crashes with 4 totalled cars, 3 lightly damaged cars, car parts all over the highway and general chaos. And that was just on one freeway on one small trip! Panel beaters must love it!

Yup, You nailed fairly my home town.

When I arrived here many years ago my wife was told by a lady in her office that the rule was signal, count to three and go as the people next to her had plenty of notice. It actually works by and large.

When I did my driving test in Houston in the early 80's the cop got in the car, unclipped his revolver in the holster, put on his seat belt then told me to start down the road.

Quoted from rotordave:

Long cream donuts are the shit!
That's about the only bakery item I ever buy back home.

My brother used to live in Warkworth, NZ. His kids told me that was his vice too.
