Hope you weren't on an overbooked United flight.

We were on United but luckily, not overbooked ...

Fiona would just give them one of her high kicks
You know it.

Hilarious pic.
That's how my mom would sleep in the car on road trips. Head back, mouth open.
The amount of bbq you guys ate on this trip you should open a bbq shack back in nz. Is there American style bbq in nz?
Safe travels back.

Texas style BBQ is just taking off in NZ. No doubt inspired by all the BBQ shows on the Food TV channels back home.
Personally, BBQ is good once in a while, but give me a big juicy ribeye anytime!

You guys should have your own show on the travel travel.
Smalltown USA with 3 kiwis? Pinball and margaritas with Fiona and Dave? Abandoned buildings around the world with rotor Dave?
Throw me a executive producer credit if it happens

I've been talking about it for years.
I don't really like being on camera though. I'm not "that guy".
I've been meaning to write some travel articles for magazines (I used to write for car magazines on the side) but with the peanuts they pay these days, I haven't had the motivation to do it ...

Great seeing y'all again - thanks for the Pincade koozie too - still my goal to make it down there in 2018 for that! cheers!
Safe travels... the rumbling in your stomachs might not be turbulence.
Glad to have hooked back up with you guys in Texas after 3 years. Take care!

After that huge burger, it'll most likely be flatulence!

We decided to make our last meal in Texas a WHATABURGER!!
I approached the bathrooms with trepidation .....

I used to love Whataburger back in the 70's.They had one in Vegas. Was it good?

Excellent. Double Whataburger with cheese. $7 for the meal.
Best burger I've had on the trip.
Sorry in-n-out.

I got a guitar score on this USA trip.
Been looking for a good deal on a 7 string Jeff Loomis signature metal guitar.
Got one from http://www.gearorphanage.com
The Jeff Loomis retails at $1500 ... guitar centre has them for $1199 at the moment.
I got a slight second from Gear Orphanage for $760 shipped from LA to Texas for me to take home .. and no sales tax either!
It has a tiny blemish on it .. hardly noticeable.
Floyd, EMGs, swamp ash body, metal cross inlays, neck through construction.

I just picked it up from the freight depot to come home with me on the plane tonight.

Luckily, Air NZ ... repeated winner of Airline of the Year and also voted Least Likely to Smash Your Shit.

Safe travels home! It was good meeting you Dave, Fiona, and Danni. I was in Hawaii all last week and just caught up on the thread. I understand being disappointed by the PAPA results, but I think they're impressive!
Great thread. Best IMHO. Thank you. I hope you got a chance to eat a Chicken Fried Steak with garlic mashed potatoes and gravy when you were in Texas. If not, next time. You have a great family and you are a great dad. More power to you and yours!!! Safe travels home!!!! There's no place like home......

Thanks for the kind words!
Currently at Mr George Bush International Airport, about to board the trusty Air New Zealand Cessna back to the land of the long white cloud!
Bye Bye USA! See you again soon!

Always fun to follow along with the Travel Odysseys, too bad you were away on PAPA Sunday so I didn't get to meet you, but it was certainly cool to get to meet Danni and Fiona.
Seems like you guys have pretty much worn out the ol' USA. I'm just waiting for the inevidible next chapter, Rotordave's Space Odyssey
Or perhaps it'd be more of a Space Oddity...
Hey y'all,
Thank you for following our trip once again. It has been fun to provide you with a few hours of entertainment to fill in your day.
Thank you to the people who have been reading and interacting with us, both in the thread and irl.
Thank you to the tournament people who run and play in tournaments.
Thank you to Spooky Pinball and MezelMods for sponsoring me even though I didn't really do much Pinside work for y'all as such but thank you regardless. Everyone should buy a Spooky machine and get mods from Mezel because they are fun and fantastic and wonderful people. Plus both of the companies have adorable dogs. That makes them even better.
Thank you to my school for letting me do this and only 1/2 judging me negatively. Thanks to the teachers who encourage me (haha my maths teacher really tbh is kind of the only super excited one but ya know 5/7 of them think it's good), and letting me have weird schedules for work. I will catch up in the holidays on stuff I haven't done. (Haha >_<
I'm probably forgetting stuff but I gotta fly so haha gotta make it quick.
Thank you to my friends who have supported me and my hobby. Especially Joshua and Jeffrey. Y'all made PAPA one of the coolest things of my life and prevented me from being upset about my crappy tournament hahaha.
Most of all thank you to my mum for carrying my bags and dad for making this trip possible. It means a lot and I'm grateful that I am able to travel around the world with you guys and not just be left at home. I feel so lucky although I never express that to you. I love you mum and dad. Thank you for loving and supporting me for all these years. I really love you.
Danni.

I am assigning you to write a report chronicling your trip and the history and culture that you learned all along the way.

Her teachers can just become Pinsiders and read the thread.
Quoted from genex:
Danni, you two were hanging out all the time - new BFFs?
Ha, we have known each other for a few years now. Here is a super cringe photo from when we first met back when I went to my first IFPA World Champs...
So not 'new' BFF, but definitely a BFF regardless...
Well, I found this new odyssey yesterday (ohhh what a miss, much to late) and read all 12 pages in once .
Thank you again for your delicious food pictures (make me always hungry), the whole story about your travel and hints for all locations.
Look forward to every new journey. Love your style.
Cheers Roland

When we did a 6 week trip to the US and Cuba in 2015, our 8 year old niece who came with us., had to keep a travel diary and give a report to her school class when she got back. Probably learnt more than in 6 weeks of primary school
Fair enough...but let's see a pic of your pin-haul from this US road trip!!..great read on here btw! You could have a YouTube channel & do video blogs! Metal shows and pins?! Sounds guuud to me! Haha..cheers
Quoted from Dee-Bow:

Yeah, that just about sums me up.
My pin haul is still sitting in Houston waiting to be put in a container and shipped back. Probably 6 weeks before they show up here.
But no stress, I got plenty of pin work to do in the meantime ...

Yes actually, there might be a picture where you can see it somewhere in this thread, I don't quite remember but I know I've seen a picture somewhere before.
It looks... intimidating
