Should I buy a shaker for Jurassic park pro?
Quoted from jrcmlc:I may have mentioned this before:
YES
Get it from pinballlife
Gift for me from you my friend ?
Yes. This knowledge is a gift. Don't squander it.

Just curious with the ones that said no. Why? I haven’t had one before or even played a game with one so I honestly do not know how it is.
People who think "Yes" are going to vote in your poll and leave comments.
People who think "No" are just wrong.
I didn't vote either way, but if it gets played a lot you might be careful putting in a shaker motor. If light home use, I generally like shaker motors. Just stopped putting them on location because it was shaking loose a lot of the hardware.
Has anyone owned the same game, one with a shaker motor and one without? Or owned a game without a shaker motor for some time having later installed one? Have you noticed a change in machine maintenance? Just curious. Thank you!

Shakers have no affect on maintenance.
Shakers are only $100. You should always own one and move it from game to game you get them to see if you like it.
You're literally looking to buy pointless Pinball Mats so um...yeah; go with something that actually does something.

This...I think a lot of games don't hit me with their shaker action. But some do so have one and try it out. If it works buy another for the next games and put it in another if you dont feel it
It’s the cheapest “mod” you can get for a pin with probably the biggest impact on gameplay experience. I put one in every pin that I can.
I’ve played several games on location that have had shakers. The thing that was most frustrating for me, was that the game(s) would tilt out when the shaker activated. Not every time the shaker activated, but for sure once during every game.
For home use, that’s frustrating - at $1 per game, that’s maddening. There are two Iron Maidens here in my town that have done it every time, and I’ve witnessed other players with the same problems. I played a Led Zeppelin at Yegpin last year with the same issues - so bad that I walked away mid-game.
I’m sure this could be fixed with the right tilt-bob adjustment. The issues have been mentioned in both establishments, but no fix has been made and I see them continue to tilt.
So, with those issues, I don’t care for the added “experience” shakers may add.

That’s due to a bad operator who didn’t set the game up right. Shaker should never activate Tilt.

For real. I have shakers on 5 pins and that’s never happened once.
I had a shaker on my Dialed In,and it seemed like it was causing the nuts on some of the hardware to always shake loose. Can't really say for sure though. It could have been the assemblers fault at the factory ?
I'm picking up a JP next week, and it has a shaker already installed, so I'll probably leave it on. I guess I'm in the minority here, but I could take or leave a shaker. Maybe that'll change when I get my JP next week.
I put a shaker in my Ghostbusters and in my Medieval Madness Remake. One came in my JJP Guns & Roses. I feel like the “value” of the shaker depends on how it was coded in the game. In MMr it feels more annoying to me than anything else but for new players I think they get a kick out of it. For G&R I think it was integrated better and comes on in more subtle ways adding to the gameplay.
When I bought my Rush Premium it didn’t come with one (because why should a game that expensive include one?) They also weren’t in stock anywhere so I never bothered. I’m not sure I’m missing anything.
All that said - my experience is that on some games it is more “necessary” than others. I would guess that Jurassic Park with the dinosaur effect done properly is pretty darn cool.
When I was first getting into pinball, I played my neighbor's games and really liked them. Then I played his DE JP a couple of times that had a shaker in it and thought to myself that if I ever owned a pinball machine that I would never want a shaker. I ended up buying that game from him and loved it so much that I have shakers in all of my pins now and will continue to do so moving forward.
Quoted from Electronmagic:This must be a trick question.
Do you live in an apartment with really thin floors and ceilings?
Brand new finished basement at my house.

Awesome. Now you can fill it with pins!

Yes I plan on getting some more. I have a good amount of free space for this. I have a bar/kitchen area, movie theater area and about 300 sq ft for a home arcade.
I really like them on the games I've had over time with them. I've never added one to a game though. I was surprised Gladiators had one.
Quoted from tommyp:I wish they were adjustable. I have a Stern one in my JP Prem, but man does it shake hard. Wish they were adjustable. I know folks have said to just remove the set screws and move the weights but also that they're almost impossible and i dont wanna break the thing.
There is usually a setting in software to use the shaker motor less, but that doesn't make it shake less hard, it just doesn't shake as often.
The same adjustment lets you shut it off, which can be great for night play.
Pinball life has a similar product, but you might try these:

The thick rubber cup helps a lot with transmission of vibration to the floor.
If the screws holding your shaker motor to the bottom of the cabinet are loose the shaker motor will be VERY loud!
I'm not a fan of adjusting the weights. I'd rather turn it off in software except when company is over and it's loud anyway.
I have a shaker in all of my games. Both Game of Thrones and Metallica I bought NIB and I enjoy the difference the shaker made. I have installed a handful of them and the one from Pinballlife is my favorite. It shakes the perfect amount, for me, without adjusting anything. Also no change in maintenance from no shaker to after shaker is installed and used for many years.

What is going on with those hinges?
