Long story short, I picked up a Striker Xtreme in a trade. Pics looked good, was told everything functioned, drove 6hrs to do the trade only to get it home, and find a dead game with a shitty blown out playfield. Not impressed. Anyway, the driver board had a nice hole burned through it, and transistors were hacked and jumpered. Bought a new rotten dog board and threw it in, and the game partially came to life. Goalie was dead and the display keeps resetting. Now after tracking down the parts I need, I will showing pics of the playfield swap. And other interesting things I find along the way.

Started the teardown of the upper side last night.

Will be adding all pics taken on my regular camera over the next few days. As you can see, the Stadium Multi ball lock was hacked.

More to come.

Potentially stupid question, but if you drove to pick it up, why didn't you inspect it better and play it first? Then you'd only be out the time, not the money for a hacked up game.

We both drove to meet. I took his word for it, so he had a bit of driving too. It was a pull up and swap games in the back of a truck. Trust me, this has turned me off of doing long distance trades with people I don't know.

Where is the playfield blown out exactly? Pics look pretty good

You'll see when I get there. Mylar is trashed/lifted and a few inserts are cracked with half above the playfield and half below, catches the ball during play, some times tilt the game when shaking it loose.

First off, it is great that even though you got a game that didn't meet your expectations, you decided to just tackle the project and make it the game you wanted. Second, games never are as "good" in person as they appear in pictures, but there is no excuse for a game being sold and represented as working if it obviously does not.

Thanks. I appreciate that. And yeah, the pics I'm posting are deceiving. There is a lot more there, than what is shown. Maybe take the flash off the camera?

Anyways, I always make sure games that leave my house are in better shape than when I go them. So when I'm done with this, someone will be getting a nice Striker Xtreme.

What did you trade for it?

Better yet, who's the Pinside thief who ripped you off.

A Space Jam.

I'll name drop, if he pisses me off again, but he is in Sask, and the Space Jam was sold two days after the trade.

The next one of us who gets screwed from this guy will wish you were a little more forthcoming....

Holy Smokes!!!! All I have to say is, your "A Few More", puts Columbo's "Just One More Thing" to shame!!!!

#32 3 years ago

Yeah, I don't understand why you're protecting someone who ripped you off.

#33 3 years ago

share for the greater good.

The community needs to know for the protection of others. Don't let this crook victimize anyone else. By the way, great photos. Upload them to the game's Pinside archive page. There is a shop out photo section of the gallery.
