Die Hard Pinball League (DHPL) is super pumped to announce YEGPIN: 2023 Pinball and Arcade Expo is officially scheduled for July 20 – 23, 2023 at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada.

DHPL is a non-profit society in Alberta with a mission to:
    - Grow the hobby of pinball and arcade
    - Provide an outlet for competitive pinball
    - To donate and support organizations that fight Cancer.

In 2022, over 1,500 pinball and arcade enthusiasts attended YEGPIN. We had 5 world class pinball tournaments including the main event, which will be a 2023 Stern Circuit Event once again. The YEGPIN Match Play Championship featured 20 banks of machines (80 machines) and ran over 3 days of competition. We have an excellent track record of delivering a world-class pinball and arcade show; this is due to the unwavering support from our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, machine donors, technicians, competitors, and enthusiasts.

YEGPIN 2023 will again feature two full arenas, 30,000 square feet of pinball and arcade gaming and will be 4 full days of celebration and competition. We have a dedicated arena to hold all of our pinball tournaments, and will be our home for the Stern Circuit event YEGPIN Match Play Championships. There will be three other IFPA sanctioned events and the Youth Canadian Pinball Championships. Arena 1 will be fully open to the public on Thursday and Friday, but will have no play access to Arena 2 as that will be dedicated to tournament play. On Saturday and Sunday, both arena’s will open up to the public with a small portion that is dedicated to tournament play for those days.

    Show Details:
    - This is our 6th year running of the Expo, it is the only pinball and arcade show in Alberta, but one of the biggest and best shows in the country!
    - Modern, air conditioned recreational center, family friendly with a state of the art swimming pool facilities, fitness center, indoor track, food court area, and many surrounding restaurants and hotels.
30,000 total square feet of pinball and arcade gaming over 4 fun filled days.
    - Arena 1 holds free play pinball and classic video arcades, vendor area(s), beer garden, concession, also has a separate tournament room
    - Arena 2 is the tournament room, where you access Match Play Championship, Womens Match Play Championship, Knockout Cancer Pinball Tournament, Pro Pinball Championship, Youth Canadian Pinball Championships
    - We expect to have 250 pinball and 50 classic video arcades available for play in the facility.
    - 5 pinball tournaments, 4 IFPA sanctioned events including our signature Stern Circuit Event: YEGPIN Match Play Championship.
Full streaming of our pinball tournaments all weekend long.
    - Professional tournament setup with bleachers and chairs for competitors and spectators.
    - We could be giving over $80,000 in cash and prizes for all of our pinball tournaments.
    - Huge support from international, domestic and local pinball and arcade vendors and many corporate sponsors that help support the event!
    - A full licensed area with a huge selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for the entire weekend.

If you have a game listed for sale at yegpin, it doesn’t qualify for the free game draw,

    Is this correct?

    #12 10 months ago

pins4life33 Am I correct in assuming there will be a Sat/Sun Pass, at a better online bundled price, that isn’t just buying two $30 tickets? Being local and working weekdays, that’s what I’d be after.

    #13 10 months ago

No, the rules have been changed for this year to allow for sale games the opportunity for draw entries.

    Quoted from Boat:

There will be a weekend pass for $90 online ($100 at door) or day passes for whatever days you want to go.

We are one week away from the official ticket sales for our pinball tournaments at YEGPIN-Pinball & Arcade Expo. Here are so things to know.

    1. Go directly to the Eventbrite ticket site and get ready to hit your F5 when ticket sales will magically open right at 12:00PM MST.
    https://www.eventbrite.ca/.../2023-yegpin-pinball-and...

    2. There are only three types of ticket available; Hardcore Pass, Combo Pass, Women's Match Play Championship. Please note all passes this year come with a 4 day all exclusive entry pass built into them (Women's does not) so there is no need to purchase a separate weekend pass for the event this year. All details are on the website, please refer to there to understand each package.

    3. You can purchase up to two tickets for each ticket at a time, so if you are going with someone a great chance to get it done in one transaction. Be careful not to duplicate purchases, if you do, they can be refunded but will only be refunded at 75% of your purchase minus the Eventbrite fees (You have been warned!!!)

    4. We will want so information from you like passholder, address, IFPA Number (if new put N/A), Pinball League Affiliation (Club League is none put N/A).

    5. You can add a shirt, hoodie or zip up at any point I would suggest doing it in a separate transaction as you want to make sure you secure your Passes first in case there is a mad rush of people wanting to purchase them.

    6. If tickets fully sellout on the first day, we will setup a ticket for the waitlist and that will start on February 18th, 2023 at 12:00PM MST. If at anytime the show sells out we will announce when the waitlist will be available to everyone.

For everyone else in the general public weekend and day passes will go on sale starting January 18th, 2023. These will be on sale until June 1, 2023, after that date all passes for the show will need to be purchased at the show at our registration desk.

May the luck be ever in your favor and see you all at YEGPIN-Pinball & Arcade Expo

    #17 10 months ago
    Quoted from pins4life33:

There are no separate tickets available for YEGPIN Match Play Championship entry, YEGPIN Knockout Cancer Pinball Tournament or YEGPIN Pro Pinball Championship; they must be purchased in a tournament package for 2023 YEGPIN Pinball and Arcade Expo.

    Hey Derek
Does this mean that the Pro and Knockout are now limited entry events and not pump and dump like last year?

I think I found my answer on the website...

    Knockout..
In association with the Kinsmen Club and Terry Fox Foundation we present the Knockout Cancer Pinball Tournament. Tournament is now a three day tournament, based on the best game format used in the previous Canadian Pinball Championships of the past . You can play as many times as you want and there will be a three divisions of skill.

    High stakes..
High Stakes is now only available in the YEGPIN Extreme Tournament Bundle.
The event is now a limited entry event

    #18 10 months ago

    You got it right:

Knockout - Unlimited entries, now with a match play playoff and three skill divisions

Pro - Limited entry tournament, now with a B division!!!!

Ticket sales for all of our tournaments will go on sale starting tomorrow Saturday, February 11, 2023 at noon MST. We have reached the 200 machine donation threshold and we really appreciate all of the support we get from the pinball community. Without their donations there is no way we could put on such a quality show year after year...

80 Machines will be designated for the Match Play Championship
9 Machines for Pro Pinball Championship
15 Machines for Knockout Cancer pinball tournament
3 Machines for Youth Canadian Championships

All of the rest of the machines will be designated to the free play area, including any spare machines for the Match Play Championships.

More machines announcements are forthcoming and we still have yet to announce all of the great games that will be supplied by Nitro Pinball this year, so our Free Play room with have a number of great titles included as well.

Got my ticket. Very much looking forward to this amazing event!

    #22 9 months ago

A great day for ticket sales on day one for the event.

    Combo Passes - Sold Out
    Hardcore Passes - 60 remain
    Women’s - 1 remains

180 competitors signed up for Match Play Championship and Knockout Cancer Pinball Tournament - Certified Plus

100 competitors signed up for Pro Pinball need 28 more entries by June 1 to make it Certified Plus

63 competitors signed up for Women’s Match Play making it one of the largest women’s specific pinball tournaments on the calendar, we might be looking to increase this tournament in 2024 now that is on track to sell out.

Any tickets that sellout we will look to increase next year as we do have the space, capacity and machines to deliver a much bigger tournament.

I know it has been a while since our last post but we are busy with planning with what is going to be the can't miss show of the summer in Sherwood Park. We plan on putting on a spectacle for all of those pinball and arcade enthusiasts. Today, we unveil our first promotional poster created by a renowned local artist in Calgary, Jackson Gee. You will start to see these posters all over local establishments in the Edmonton area, including the first ones that were put into Arkadium Retro Arcade today who is one of our partner sponsors this year. The art is awesome to see in person and if you want one for your establishment send us a line and we will get one out to you. Thanks again to all of our sponsors that help make this event what it is.

yes they did work! My wife picked it up and she was quite excited about it.

We came back Sunday with the kids, but it looked like there was a league going on, so we left.

We're not very good, so we've just been visiting Hidden Spot / Pinbar and will hit up Revival next week.

YEGPIN-Pinball & Arcade Expo is a hugely successful event each year because we have such a strong volunteer base. Every year we canvass volunteers to help out to make our show super successful. There are really three tiers of volunteering at YEGPIN:

    1. Setup of Show
    2. In Event
    3. Teardown

Note: If you are playing in our YEGPIN Match Play Championships you will not be able to volunteer for any of the in event volunteer opportunities.
We are one of the few events that doesn't ask for tournament players to be a scorekeepers for us during the event, we want you to enjoy all of the pinball tournaments, the free play area and whatever else in the show. If you have downtime and want to pitch in it is always helpful but we ask that you do not signup for slots and reserve those for other individuals that can dedicate their time to this position.

For those that like to commentate during our pinball tournaments we have a separate schedule available through Sign Up Genius, please note that if you are playing in any of the finals your name will be removed from consideration for that round but there is now a full schedule available for those that are interested in commentating throughout the event.

There are no volunteer rewards for commentating, you are doing this out of the goodness of the event. We are looking for experienced pinball tournament players that are interested in being a part of the crew.

We have a two step process for volunteering at YEGPIN.

    1. Is to signoff on a YEGPIN waiver form through SmartWaiver program.
    https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/kvtmydfhbzpnxtukc9k6gj/web/
    2. Is to sign up for specific time slots for the event.
    https://www.signupgenius.com/.../10c0945afaa29a4fcc52...

Please note: You must be approved as a volunteer before adding time slots on Sign up Genius, any unauthorized time slots will be deleted.
A full time volunteer must commit for at least 3 shifts or a total of 8 hours of time in order to receive all of the volunteer benefits:
    - 4 Day all access weekend pass to YEGPIN (credited $75 if purchased a tournament bundle)
    - YEGPIN Volunteer, Tournament Director or Technician T-Shirt
    - Free food and beverages while on shift supplied by YEGPIN during the weekend

    Thanks again for your consideration!!!
