Quoted from Crash:

I would try a PinballSP or Fast color LED kit. Much cheaper. Full color two part display. No gridlines.

I don't want to bash here, but i want to make one important thing clear:
It's not a PinballSP kit, it's PIN2DMD! Luis is only allowed to sell hardware, not software and it's not his invention.
I dont't want to judge, but i have assembled and soldered way more than 120-150 kits, pcbs, dmds etc. myself
I did, and am still doing it, on a groupbuy base including(!!!) a donation for a charity project chosen by Lucky1.

Luis is doing a very good job on hardware side, no question, but software support is not done by him and can't be done as he has no access to sources.

Mainly all of the invention goes to Lucky1, Steve45, UncleSash and a very low part to me!
Without Lucky1 and Steve45, the "product" wouldn't even have seen light of day...
I am also getting some boards from Luis, mainly for testing, tweaking and comparison to our own STM32/PCB solution and on that base i decide what way/system to go.

Despite that, you are absolutely correct. There is no other option with this great price-value ratio...
...and you have several options:

single color, e.g. red, green, blue, white, amber... whatever you like.
4-Shades colorization
16-shades colorization

You are flexible in what you use and how you colorize.

So, all I can do now is to say, whatever you choose, everything else than an original DMD is better

Greetings,
Dom
