So here's where I am now with my Xenon.
I've stripped the playfield down, and I'm wondering what I should do.
I'm not an expert in playfield restoration, and this one seems to be a pretty tough challenge to begin with...

Here's what I got :

Well, some areas obviously need to be filled

Also, there's a mylar that I should probably polish (I tried to peel some of it under the bumpers, and bits of paint seem to lift...), and clean due to the dirt on its sides...

Some inserts are used

But my main burden is the fact that paint seems to be cracking...

I know the various possibilities, but as it's the first time I deal with this side of my passion, I can't make up my mind...

Would love to know what you guys think about it.

Thank you guys for your help!

Quoted from Arcane:

When I restored my XENON playfield, it was in much worse condition that this one.
My recommendation would be to use acrylic paints and carefully repaint all the missing sections. Then use art ink based pens of various diameters (Jerry Artrama or Dick Blick or even Michael's) to finish the black lines and drawings.

That's one of the things I had in mind, but contrary to the Taxi I'll have to restore, this one seems more difficult with gradations of colours... but once I start it, I might be fine... (?)

Also, I'm in France, so I'll have to find other shops to find pens... but could you show me what kind of pen you're talking about, please?

Quoted from Arcane:

The following may help you:
Yves

Thanks for that ! That will help a lot for sure !

Quoted from Atari_Daze:

Use this link as a guide, it's become congested with some misc. chatter, but you can easily sift through it to the restoration content of the thread.

Of course I spend a lot of time reading this !
It makes me dream of all the possibilities... But the (my) reality might be quite different...

Quoted from Arcane:

Wylcot,
I used Liquitex Acrylics for painting the playfield. As a matter of fact, most of the times, the available color will match and be right on to repaint with success. Go to an artist shop (Cultura for example) and look what they have for acrylic colors. I like the soft body (more liquid) and I use small brushes to touch up. There, you will also find ink based pens of various sizes to redraw your black lines. Simply do not forget: DO NOT USE SHARPIE !!!! It is crap stuff for this kind of purposes (Perfect for writing on cardboard but not on playfield) and will cause the color to smear when you clear coat the playfield.

Pour les feutres:
http://www.cultura.com/beaux-arts/arts-graphiques/feutres.html
If you look carefully at the color picture of the playfield that I gave you, you can see that you only need a few colors: orange, yellow, red, brown, blue, green, white and black. Print the drawing and take it with you to Cultura.
Good luck
Yves

Hey hey! You have a typical French first name, you know!

So, I read in Vid's tutorial that some paint could change when drying or after clearcoating... Liquitex is fine?
Cuz he recommended Createx, so I tried to find only these ones... But can I rely on other brands on that matter?
