The last game I saw this much hyped/speculated on about was PotC...nothing since.

Quoted from rai:So what exactly is the difference between a backglass and a translight?
Backglass is all glass and translite is a vinyl sheet on plexi.
Robert
Quoted from pmWolf:goatdan said:
When it comes down to interactive toy, or shaker someone can add on if they so choose, which would you go with?
I do know that I'd rather have a shaker motor and a translite, then no shaker and a backglass.
If the choice was between a shaker and a cool playfield toy, I'd take the toy, and add a shaker later.
I'm seeing this as lot like the Bond or new Tax strategy in Cali.
The idea is to get people to pay more (a new bond or raise taxes) to have police, fire and schools...completely disregarding the fact that they (government) spent the money we already sent in for these 3 things.
So now we have Pro's, Premium & LE's...well, so now these are stripped down...the things that you thought a premium & LE should come with (because you're spending more), now you have to pony up separately for...a shaker is one example.
Soon machines are going to be like cars...you want a shaker, well you get it in the $1800 "trim kit"...color coordinated painted legs, shaker, matching shooter rod, invisiglass, 3-prong plug, etc.

Quoted from pmWolf:I've never really paid this much attention to a new Stern release in the past....is this really common?
Not since PotC, in my memory. It was extremely hyped (both before production, like X-Men, and while on "secret" locations for testing)...then it fell off the radar as people got them home and actually played them.
Robert
Quoted from mnpinball:Facebook as a tool is great, I get it and understand it. Posting a one line or a picture generates buzz and feedback.
The only buzz I hear is the snoring, while people wait for a few pics; ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...
Quoted from gambit3113:I haven't ever known of a Stern going to test, either.
The last game with such a hype was PotC.
It went on test somewhere near the factory, and a few of the locals found it and were posting pics and video's of it; but wouldn't tell anyone where it was.
Then people started getting them and it fell of the radar until lately when people are starting to talk about it again.
I would expect it to go on test in the same place as PotC, if it still exists.
Robert
Quoted from Dellamarmalade:Why are there still nib of the LEs still around why haven't they been bought up
When I bought mine a few weeks ago, there were a few left that I found that were not over priced, maybe 3, but I expect that the ones that you can get for that reasonable price are mostly gone.
What's left will probably be the $7500 ones on eBay pretty soon.
Robert
Quoted from ChrisBardon:Look for "X-Men ramp post mod" and you should find the parts you need.
Great, thanks.
Robert
Quoted from Maken:Searched for a rulesheet but I guess the game is too new.
There isn't a rulesheet that I know of.
Take a look at theis video, where Borg explains how to play and some of the game features.
Robert
Quoted from judremy:RCade did a great rulesheet for this game.
Well, no. He put some rules in a thread, but a rulesheet is a single document that someone can print and read.
It's unfortunate that a lot of the work done in threads here isn't captured into rulesheets and posted here:
http://www.pinball.org/rules/index-old.html
Robert
Quoted from pmWolf:Oh, good....only 179 pages before we got around to posting a rulesheet. =)
Only 122 posts on this thread to go thru:

Robert
I'm struggling with the rules to X-Men LE.
If there is anyone who is willing to talk to me on the phone for a bit about them, please PM me.
Thanks.
Robert
Quoted from jdoz2:This is probably a long shot, but does anyone know where I can buy JUST this plastic?
Partial sets or individual plastics show up on eBay all the time. But I've never seen a partial set, or full one for that matter of X-men for sale.
So I may buy a pinbits protector set...or make them like this:
You may have the best luck by getting someone to scan the plastic you need and then make a new one yourself.
There are threads here on pinside on how to make them; and on the web, like this site:
http://smiley.tzo.com/pinball/backups/reproplastics.htm
Good luck.
Robert
So, I don't have a lot of games on the X-men game yet.
Probably 15 as of today. In total, there are 60 plays on the game, I've had people over a couple of times.
I guess I'm more of a Sys 11 guy, though I do like Spiderman a lot.
The rules just seem to be too complicated for me to enjoy a game. With my scores of only 20 - 60M, I am just frustrated when I play. People here get 5x that amount...and I'm no where near that.
I appreciate the discussion I had with Danny yesterday. He explained some of the features and strategies, for that I appreciate it. Still waiting for someone to actually generate a rule set for it.
I just don't like to struggle so much, and this game is that for me.
I know it probably sounds like I'm whining; but I hate it when my pinball playing limitations are so predominantly displayed.
I just got squashed by X-Men a few minutes ago, so I'm still annoyed.
Robert
Well, I played about 10 more games, and still top out at 60M, so I still have a ways to go.
I get the hero side of the of the game, but I still struggle with how to move thru the villains.
Well I get them running, sometimes 3 or 4 at the same time, but I can't seem to end them.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Robert
Quoted from rotordave:I think this is a no brainer. For $12,000 you can buy the XMen AND a Tron Pro.
This...
Robert
Quoted from RipleYYY:how did you setup the pin ?
Outlanes and slope at factory standard & on 3 balls.
I have set up 3 levels for a Special, which each are an extra ball.
I've set up the start of the modes to "easy", that way I get to see the modes and try to figure out how to proceed thru them.
Robert
I just want to say that my X-Men LE makes me realize what a F'ing bad pinball player I am.
I just can't come near mastering any part of the rules...or some of the ramp shots.
UGH!
Robert
It's too bad that after one goes to all the trouble to figure out the rules that they don't just write them up as an actual rule sheet, and post them here:
http://papa.org/learning-center/player-resources/game-rulesheets/
Having to rummage thru 100+ posts is nothing short of annoying; and hard to figure out, especially when the rules for a couple of software updates are in the same thread.
Robert
Quoted from e4mafia:if you don't mind waiting I'll do a google doc and post it up there.
That would be great...
Robert
I know, this is just a series of posts, not a "Rule Sheet"...which is what people used to generate for others to be able to read.
Robert
Quoted from Kneissl:Does anyone have what was done so far? Send it my way?
There was a code version with the new voices added, not sure if anyone else besides me tried it or not.
Robert
I believe that this is the *.bin file with the changed voices....both in a 1.5 and a 1.51 version.

Robert
Quoted from matt_assassin:So these two updates are only for LE. Good thing I've waited before doing anything. Are there any code for the Pro ?
That's the only code I have, I got it from "quartergrabber".
Robert
Quoted from rai:How hard is the kit to install? Does it include everything?
I just bought the bracket and sourced the other stuff myself. I used the existing switch, but did have to bend it a bit to get it to register...it was permanently closed with out the bending tweak.
It probably took 45 minutes from start to finish (not counting mounting the figurine), except for the switch tweak, which probably took another 20 to figure out and fix.
Robert
Quoted from rai:Robert, are you happy with the way the game plays with the captive ball?
Yes, very much.
Robert
Quoted from TomGWI:That Wolverine figure/bust looks cool
Yes, it is cool looking in person too. It is presently stuck to the top of the block assembly with 3M double sided tape.
Robert
In anticipation of perhaps purchasing another game, I only have room for 5, I will be putting my X-Men LE up for sale soon.
Details to follow, as soon as I return from an extended work trip to Ridgecrest, Ca.
Robert
I've listed my wolverine LE for sale. While it's beautiful, I just don't seem to be able to get into its gameplay.

Come by, see it, have a beer, make me an offer.
Thanks.
Robert
Quoted from MrBellMan:I could really use some advise on how to overcome this without replacing the playfield if possible
Rob,
I had a similar indentation on an IJ4 I had, which was caused by a badly mushroomed magnet.
It was a bitch to get the magnet out, due to the piss-poor design of a slot on the magnet rather than a hex (so you could put a socket or wrench on it). I ended cutting the nut off.
Anyway, I left the new magnet core off for a while and put a damp cloth on the both sides of the playfield and in the magnet hole, to get the wood to swell some in that area.
It didn't swell very much, but it did enough to bring the top of the playfield a lot closer to flat than it was. I didn't notice any additional paint/clearcoat damage to the playfield by getting it damp for awhile.
Other than that, I don't think there is a lot you can do to the area.
Good luck.
Robert
Quoted from Baiter:It is a really terrible design, made worse by gluing the threads at the factory
Yes depending on your game, the amount of thread locker varies...as does the difficulty in removing the nut from the core.
Robert
My Wolverine LE is still for sale...not sure why I haven't seem more interest.
It's beautiful, looks like it just came out of the box, I just don't seem to be able to get into its game play.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-x-men-le-stern-2012-2023
Lighted night-crawlers, protectors in shooter lane & blackbird, icicles installed on swing ramp, night-crawler shooter, Wolverine ball mod & new wolverine model, mirror blades & lighted X-Men topper.
Pictures aren't perfect, but game is really nice, looks like I took it out of the box yesterday. Not looking for any trades.
The Color DMD will be removed and replaced with the DMD that came with the game. I also still have the original Wolverine figure in great shape.
Not sure how may games have been played on it, but I'm guessing less than 300.
Come by, see it, have a beer, make me an offer.
Thanks.
Robert

Quoted from MrBellMan:You talking about these? They look to be more metal/wood screws than machine screws
They are self tapping sheet metal screws.
Robert
Quoted from LesManley:How long is it?
I'm in Ridgecrest this week, I'll measure this weekend.
Robert
Quoted from ryandimx:What does everyone with an LE do to get rid of the intense glare on the pf glass from the back box?
I spray the front to the bulb with black paint.
Robert
My X-Men LE is up for sale...at a reduced & firesale price: $5200.
