oh sweet! just got it so I haven't noticed her yet. she should have had a role on the playfield shooting fireworks somewhere...

several new titles and my Borg games still get the most play. Avatar is still my favorite but Xmen is up there for me.

So I'm OCD and upgrading the flashers on my LE to LEDs, mostly cool whites and was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for the Magneto spot light flasher. What bulb should I get?

#12155 3 years ago

Damn. Got to Danger Room last night. Couldn’t finish second round.

Why do coders put these AWESOME modes in places so hard to get to? Makes me think MOST multiball coding in pinball is extremely lazy.

Don’t just save the magic for Wizard modes!

The magic should be reserved for the best players. You too can be a “pseudo” wizard.

Just adjust your settings to make it easier. Put all the options in the menu to easy and close the outlanes.

My one-way gate broke behind magneto. Boy the software acts funky without that one way gate keeping the balls in magneto lock.
I am trying to find a replacement but I can't see what to order in the manual. Does anyone have the gate part number or a similar gate that will fit?

You may be able to put magneto in virtual lock in the meantime. I know it's in the settings but I've never used it but it's worth trying to see if it will play correctly while you work on a fix.

Good idea, thanks

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I know how to do it, but it can be a real bitch! Been getting better at it.
Shooting the "better" shots (screen arrow / blinking faster) just gives you more points, rather than helping you complete the mode faster, correct?

I thought it did both. Eg to start with the oath is on the left of the machine. So if you shoot a combo of 4 (I believe) left shots and Wolvie you’ll reach the boss where you can shoot Xavier or Magneto (2x shots) to finish him. If you shoot an incorrect path shot (eg a right shot at the beginning) it takes longer to complete Wolvie. I believe...

I believe there is a bending jig you can get on marcos along with piano wire that you can bend in the right shape. That is what I used to make a new gate on mine.

Looks like you already have a color display. Any other mods on your 125?

Yeah, previous owners put on several mods including the color DMD.
Also the Wolverine newton ball, undercab lighting, lit flipper buttons, speaker lights, and a few other odds and ends.

The expression on that Deadpool is the same as the dots when he appears in the game. Bravo!

I know that Deadpool figure is well put together for the playfield and DMD show. I gotta do some homework on it on Ebay, unless you guys know where I can purchase it?

I bought the Deadpool figure on AliExpress. I just bought another one a week ago for the actual Deadpool machine (if I ever get one).

I don’t see them listed anymore. They will pop back up again. If I notice it, I’ll send a link.

never even once gotten to Danger Room but yesterday I got to Danger Room and Dark Phoenix in the same game.

who is the figure after you get done with the first 3 phases of Danger Room? I didn't recognize him.

Dark Phoenix is an amazing mode, and worth so many points! 150 million off the mode alone. final score was 495 million or so.

Nice! I have only gotten Danger Room a handful of times in the 8+ years I have owned it. I've never sniffed Dark Phoenix. Love the game, even if I rarely do well. That had to be a crazy long game to complete both the hero and villain paths like that! Well done.

I just joined the club with a gorgeous HUO low play magneto LE. What a great shooter and gorgeous game this is. That being said the voice actors have to be the worst in pinball. I could live with the callous if the voice actors weren’t so bad. Has anyone like Cleland made an alternative soundtrack and if so what’s the verdict? I read that there’s one based off the cartoon, how’s this compared to the original?

I joined the club recently with a Magneto LE. It needed a little work, so while I had it disassembled I did some upgrades. People make a big deal about interactive speaker lights on MBr, check this out.

#12176 2 years ago

Mine had no Wolverine installed, and if you looked closely in the video, you'll notice I went through the trouble to install it's lamp, only to learn it only lights briefly in attract and that's it: how lame!

That's okay, I added lots of other lighting effects, ha.

#12177 2 years ago

I think I'm going to install the fourth flasher too: it kind of bugs me the pro has something I'm missing. My game's not flashy enough, ha.

Is there actually special code on the pro to control the fourth flasher individually, or does it always just light up with the right side: that's what I was assuming.

That is really neat. I like how your speaker lights are converted to the round style. Is that a kit, that covers the square edges of the speaker holes?

If I have traditional lights, can they be modified to interact with playfield lighting?

I also really liked how the mirror blades look with the flashers. I’d wondered if XMen’s playfield was a little too dark to benefit from blades, but I may add them to mine now. I’ve had a pair in box for years. Never used!

Thanks! You couldn't do this with standard speaker light kits though. These are all custom mods, and a bit more labor intensive than the usual stuff. I did have these up on my website last fall when I had more spare time to make them.

I was really pleased with the effect of the mirror blades on this game. My brightening up the game also helped, but they will look good regardless: you should definitely put them in. My ST Premium is the only game that looks nicer with them.

Question: Had a ripper going, started up Dark Phoenix. Shot after shot made, back and forth with Xavier to ice man to xavier to cyclops to storm to magneto and back. Single ball, all cities were going, the CAWWWW going constantly.... and then it was over. Just over. Didn't drain once, no explosions, no nothing. I paused in a cradle, and after a minute it shot out a graphic from Dark Phoenix and the whoosh sound, and then... nothing. Just back to game play. I don't think I was playing anywhere this "ten minutes" but I played a solid 3-5 minutes I would guess.

Did I win Dark Phoenix? Did I lose? Did I hit a bug? My total score was 256M, those jackpots were only 2 and 3 a pop. Had all of the heroes except for Wolverine and Ice Man (yes, it's a pro), and didn't complete Magneto SJP.

As much as I absolutely adore how rich this game is, Dark Phoenix always seems confusing to me. Can it be "won" or is it just a points grab?

Running 1.51.

I believe this is the "end of game" that is in there since the software doesn't know what to do after Dark Phoenix. Had you finished danger room as well?

#12182 2 years ago

Nope, didn't get wolvie and ice man, no magneto. I've gotten both danger room and dark phoenix (and magneto SJP) in the same game, dark phoenix was the last one in that but I didn't complete it, I lost cities and it was over. I was expecting to see the final wizard mode, and only later found out it had been removed.

This one was odd, I was playing, and really, just killing it. Then it was gone. No "good job" no "bad job", just over. And then a flash from the mode later. And then back to work on Heroes drained and done.

#12183 2 years ago

I’m clueless on Dark Phoenix. Although I’ve managed to get there twice. You’d think the designer would write out the rules somewhere. But no. Lamest thing about pinball IMO.

I can’t recall a final Wizard mode that actually says “congrats” - or “you win” or whatever when you’re done. Most of the ones I’ve played, IIRC, just end without fanfare. That I can remember, anyway.

Star Wars is an exception. You know when you beat the Emperor and it feels good. I beat SM a few times. I can’t remember what happened at the end but SM is a really good wiz mode and it was quite satisfying. JM’s Wiz mode is fun, and beatable. I’m pretty sure I beat Avengers, but it was a very unpolished Wizard mode, and nothing really happened. I may have beat Transformers, another unpolished Wiz. Got to Encore in ACDC twice. Can’t remember what exactly happened! I’ve been one shot away from beating a few, but I’m drawing a blank on which ones. I do recall being down to the last shot - for a billion - on IJ. That was thrilling. Bummed that I choked that.

When I get to these final Wiz modes I’m usually mental and physical jelly, so I’m not surprised I can’t remember them very well. Or that they usually end soon. Like Valinore. I remember a big points grab and a lot of excitement but drained too soon to understand WTF was going on. I was toast by that point.

In general, I’ve found many mini Wiz modes to be more satisfying than most of the “finals” I’ve experienced. Destroy the Ring and TABA to name two from the same game.

You can see it played through here.

This game didn’t have Danger Room completed ...

Spoiler alert ...

I’ve done it all a few times, it just goes back to the start like every other pin.

Personally I much prefer “the end” like TNA and Alice Cooper Nightmare Castle.

Ok I've been working on this with a few friends for months and finally ready to unveil the custom topper we made for x-men - sentinel head with led eyes. My idea, a friend 3D printed it, and another friend made a custom wiring harness.

Looking for some guidance on exporting gameplay audits to USB?
I just brought home a new (to me) X-MEN Magneto LE and it's in great shape. .
Being the data geek that i am, I was trying to use the USB gameplay data audit function, but it keeps coming up with a empty file.
I have tried a new 32Gb usb as well as old USB that was < 1Gb.
Is there a trick to get this to work on an older machine? I know that the USB function works, because i have loaded Fat Panda's sound package.
i was thinking it would be fun to use the audit function to measure the changes that i want to test with pitch as I try to reduce the number of SDTMs.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Ordered up a shaker kit ( Rev B ) from pinball life, its only $99!

pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png

installation was a breeze and there were no wires to tap, since existing plugs were in the wiring harness. Lucky for me, my X-men had a shaker kit in it, that someone removed before I bought it; so I didnt have to cut out the template or drill holes for the t-nuts. Its a pretty cool mod that definitely gives the game a little extra cool factor. Next up is a tourny button

#12196 2 years ago

It’s funny you posted this. I’m ordering my shaker kit tomorrow for my magneto x-men. I believe that all of the x-men pins came with the shaker kit prebuilt into cabinet. When does the shaker get activated during gameplay?

its tied into almost everything to varying degrees, but its never shaking for too long or shaking too hard. You'll notice it right away when you hit the pop bumpers.

I look forward to finding out how much it shakes I only got a couple of quick games in, but its supposed to be in the high 90s all week so I'll probably retreat to my basement and smack some balls around.
