So....any word on this yet?

When can we expect to start seeing pics?

The only details I've seen came from MNPinball:
********************************
Borg's game production starts in about 30 days for the Pro (Europe). 2 ramps,
3 flippers, captive balls, multiple ball interaction toys, scoop, a magnet or two +, a VUK that serves somewhat of 2 different exits or speed you could say to start things off. Custom molded toys, nothing from Kmart. No drop targets. The upper right flipper is supposed to have 4 shots alone. The main toy is an all new mech that is fresh and never been done before. When people see the layout, it will remind them of a reversed Tron kind of feel.
********************************
....and that was a month ago.

Just wondering if there was any more news...

I keep waiting for the day the announcement comes out...pretty sure it will be my first NIB no matter if it is Avengers or X-Men

#3 10 years ago

Pretty sure X-Men is next. If it is, I'm in.

If Avengers is after that....I'm in....and broke.

=)

I'm in on either as well....now we just need the details and prices

Anyone know ho many different LE versions there are going to be?

#5 10 years ago

I'm hoping they keep it simple. I don't need to see:

X-Men:
Wolverine Edition
Storm Edition
Cyclops Edition
Beast Edition
Professor X Edition
Jubilee Edition (HA!)
....and so on.

Ditto for Avengers (if it happens). Just do a regular and an LE. We don't need special versions for Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and the "Assassin" version (Hawkeye and Black Widow).

However, it's been a while since we've only seen one regular, and only one LE.

If I dont find a Tron, and the layout and art look good on Xmen, I could be in. I might just wait and play your game though Pete

Definitely eager to see some photos.

I'm more concerned with the sound package.

A really bad, fake Wolverine could be like nails on a chalkboard.

They should get Steve Blum....who has voiced Wolverine in all of the Marvel games on Xbox/PS3.

It always bothered me on the Batman pin. If you can't get real quotes from the movie, then just grab Kevin Conroy (from the cartoon and Arkham Asylum/City games).

I would love to see a nice comic style art layout. They should take some pointers from Marvel Zen games on Xbox360/PS3. I downloaded them this weekend and the art is just stunning. I am sick of seeing actors mugs plastered all over a game. They could look so much better.

#11 10 years ago

Well, the rumor is that X-Men would be comics-based....so it may be the first pin in a while with actual hand-drawn artwork.

(Are Family Guy and Simpsons the last ones to do that? Am I missing any?)

Pete

#12 10 years ago

Still saying Avengers next as been this way for last 4 months plus..........

That would be sweet. I am even more intrigued now.

Decisions, decisions.

#14 10 years ago

They are so backed up with AC/DC sales that Borg's game got bumped another few weeks. End of May something more should surface.

#15 10 years ago

I dont get why they can't tell us what the official title is and some of the details now though?

How long after stern announces before they start shipping machines?

#16 10 years ago

normally 2 months. I am sure they dont want to cut into ac/dc sales at this point. Let them ride this out its there best title since i dunno how long.

#17 10 years ago

I've heard confirmation that it is in fact X-Men.. this is from my supplier.

I'm curious if it'll be from the movies or the comic books.. movies wouldn't make sense since they're all so old now, and X-Men: First Class is kinda a stand-alone movie.

If it's based on the comics I'll be very impressed.. and y'all will get the hand-drawn PF art you've been longing for.

Avengers is looking to be after X-Men...but the crystal ball gets very cloudy when you look that far ahead. =)

#19 10 years ago

It would be really fantastic to NOT have actors faces all over a pin . . . I sure hope Stern reads these posts and see that NO ONE wants actors faces on all these pins . . .

When is the last time there was truely a pin based on a comic book? JD?

#20 10 years ago
Quoted from pmWolf:

Yeah, that would be cool.

It would neat if the game focused on you as Xavier w/ Cerebro, hunting down the X-men team ala Giant-size X-men #1. Then, when the X-men were assembled, instead of fighting Krakoa, you would obviously go up against Magento. The number of balls would represent the team and the playfield could have a bunch of magnets here an there to screw you up. Lots of cool possibilities.

#21 10 years ago

Yeah, I'd be bummed if there wasn't Magneto and a magnet or two.

I'd also say that the Sentinels are a given.

You've got to assume that the "major" X-Men will be in it. Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine. Safe bet for Beast and probably Gambit.

After that, it is a crapshoot. I'd really be hoping for the other "New" X-Men #94 guys...Nightcrawler and Colossus.

Otherwise, it would be my hope that it isn't full of folks I don't care about. (Jubilee, Bishop, anybody with a mullet....).

Jubilee was brought on board if i remember in the 92 tv series. I dont think she was a comic hero i could be wrong though. Its a given the big name's will be there Logan Scott Jean etc. My biggest doubt for the Comic version is all the custom stuff they would need to do. I am not saying they cant do it but it seems a stretch for Stern to do all custom dots all custom art all custom speech etc. Have they done it before sure sure but these days it seems far fetched. Here is hoping though.

Jim Lee is friggin' awesome. Ever watch his thing on YouTube with Stan Lee? Really fascinating to watch him draw.

Jubilee showed up in X-Men 244, in 1989. So, yeah....comics first for her.

Hmmm, I dunno ... my vote would be for John Byrne. Aside from being the GREATEST X-MEN ARTIST EVER , I think his style might gel better with the playfield.

+1 Also, I think Stern has something really unique planned on their next pin and that is why they are worried it would cut into the sales of AC/DC. Generally a "rock" theme and a "comic" theme would not be considered as directly competing with each other . . . so they must have something big in mind . . . perhaps the unveiling of the LCD sooner than expected or perhaps it is a wide body like WOZ; I guess we need to wait a few more weeks to find out.

#27 10 years ago

I might have to get one if XMen or Avengers.
Hopefully with ACDC backups they can get Borg's polished code wise.

Jim Lee probably wouldn't be open to collaboration as he is currently a big-wig over at DC. Now all of the art he produced while at Marvel of the X-Men would be fair game though. I seriously doubt they would use older art. If they did, Arthur Adams should be the man for the job in my opinion... xmen.jpg heroes.jpeg

#29 10 years ago

We can hope that they get one of those great artists (Lee, Byrne, Adams)....but it is very likely that we are just dreaming.

If I'm dreaming, I guess I would say that I personally always loved Alan Davis and his work on Excalibur.

Pete

And, if I was dreaming some more:

J. Scott Campbell
Alex Ross
Adam Hughes
Michael Turner (RIP)

...and several others that I am positive would never draw a pinball playfield. =)

Don't think widebody is a biggie.

If they introduced their new system early then yes, AC/DC would date quickly so this would make sense. It would be a shock though as not expected this early.

That and playfield issues is what I heard.

#34 10 years ago

Xmen is a solid theme. I hope they don't do back to back comic book themes. I would be more down for an Avengers over Xmen. Gonna be exciting times ahead.

#35 10 years ago

playfield looks awesome. very cool looking whitewood. should be fast!!!!!

#36 10 years ago

I'm sure that comic book themes are a lot "safer" for Stern, so I wouldn't be surprised to see back-to-back pins.

Pete

#37 10 years ago

Have they ever done back to back comic book themes? Surely not . . . that cannot be good marketing. Batman and Spiderman were separated by three or four machines in the interium were they not?

For X-Xmen artists I would have to say
1) John Byrne (just cause his run was just the best run ever)
2) Jim Lee

However - Alex Ross, really, no one can touch him (Neil Adams is close) and if he did the game it would be a work of art - would kill and be a must-buy for me.

True so true,I,m liking Capt America and the Blade alot

#42 10 years ago

If it's a comic based X-Men pin...and it really looks good, I will be real hard pressed not to get it. I may have to do a serious ebay sell off of some of my things I have had around for years (including many comics) and possably that Black Spider-Man I have sitting around.

X-Men, Starblazers, Tenacious D and The Aquabats are probably the only themes that would make me consider such a rash course of action....and I know 3 out of the 4 of them aren't happening.

I've been pushing Borg and Stern for 2 years to use Alex Ross. He is an amazing artist with much Marvel/DC experience.

Alex has been doing Anthrax CD covers for years now. Awesome stuff.

I cannot imagine Gary Stern paying for Alex Ross to commission art work for this machine. Just don't see it happening.

#45 10 years ago

I just hope they find SOMEBODY good. It would be great if they could get an actual X-Men comic artist.

Please, no Rob Liefeld.

#46 10 years ago

I wish they would just let the cat out of the bag before my pinball funds go elsewhere

#48 10 years ago

If Stern was smart they should let everyone know what he is doing next. Some people are going to spend there saved money on WOZ once it is fully released. Im holding back on WOZ bc of the theme. Not a big fan of the kid/bubbly version. If it was a dark version of WOZ i may have jumped. If its a great pin I may pick one up if nothing else interests me. Im sure im not the only one in this boat. So Stern wake up and make a smart tactical decision and let us know what your doing or the money may go elsewhere. Avengers is current and IM ALL IN. Xmen is old school and would need more info b4 I jumped on that. They have done Xmen arcade games and video games for years so IMO they would be a bit late to the party on this one. I would rather jump on a MIB pin over Xmen.

Why not ?

They got Jerry Vanderstelt for LOTR, Elvis and a small run of Harley 3rd Ed.

I am still thinking Avengers with the movie and all.
