hey experts thought i might check in for some tips before i go solder happy on this board.
Here the symptom: During bonzai mode (maybe other modes also) the ball goes up the ramp and when it rolls under the switch it closes the “back panel diverter” coil 12, but does not close “upper playfield right diverter” coil 22 so the ball ends up rolling under coil 12 and getting stuck behind the right diverter coil 22. in test mode coil 22 is functional and it is also functional in game play when “exiting the ring”.
so my first thought was to check the driver board.. coil 22 is controlled by driver transistor q13 which looks perfectly fine. however coil 12 which at first appears to be the functioning properly is really ugly around transistor q27 and has obviously been sloppily worked on next door at q26.

so the first question is: could this ugly mess at q27 be the probable/possible diagnosis for coil 22 not closing OR is the issue possibly still at q13 even tho is looks fine? Or am i looking in the wrong place altogether?

part 2 question if i need to change out the transistor at q26 27 or 12 is this 5064 transistor the correct replacement? How about the brown “glass diode?” thats been burnt.. not sure if that is a diode.. the manual doesnt give me a part number for that component. can someone suggest a replacement if it ought to be replaced?

thanks & happy 4th!

I'd clean up that mess and R69 too. Then see where you are at.

as above, but you can't tell if a component is okay by its looks.

you can use a meter and test components, and even then they can test okay but under load they fail.

being such cheap parts I'd replace them.

the transistor or/and pre driver transistor may be at fault.

you can see the solder blob/line there due to previous work done where I assume the component has been lifted and pulled the circuit board trace also, unfortunately.

for the solenoids, the smaller transistors are 2N4401
the larger ones are TIP 102.

the components with prefix 'C' are capacitors and 'R' are resistors, not sure on the glass component you are referring to (R69) but i think you mean the discoloured resistor?

Quoted from Rikoshay:

It is a resistor. And the big transistor below it has some nice solder blobs that look like cold solder joints or like you said may have done some damage to traces.
