Quoted from toyotaboy:

I uploaded my fix to thingiverse:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3745380
If anyone wants one printed let me know. I'll only charge the $4 shipping to the lower 48 states.

I don’t have my Wonka yet, but thank you for posting this. Very generous since I’m sure it took you time to design.

I don't see a manual, schematic, or other documentation on the JJP site. Am I missing something or does anyone know when this info will be published? I've got a game that didn't boot out of the box, so I'm waiting for new a new CPU, processor, and memory to arrive in the mail. I figured that while I was waiting I'd learn more about the guts of the game.

I wonder if support for a LE topper was already in the code. Would be weird to leave LE machines out of the topper game.

#2001 4 years ago

I'm sure this is obvious, and I've searched the thread, but am still at a loss. I have a LE and the machine isn't showing any errors but haven't locked a ball in the Wonkavator after about 30 games. There is a setting that refers to virtual locks and it's set to standard. How is the Wonkavator supposed to work - figuring out if it's bad playing or something else. Thanks.

#2003 4 years ago
Quoted from fnosm:

FROM TWIP
"Wonkavator Multiball
There are multiple ways to lock balls in the Wonkavator. You can light Super Lock from a Computer Ticket award, or a Captive Ball award, or when you’ve played any three Factory Tour modes."
https://www.thisweekinpinball.com/willy-wonka-and-the-chocolate-factory-deep-dive-overview-rules-features-images-more/
When the Super Lock light is lit use your upper left flipper to shoot the upper right side spinner and you will lock a ball in the Wonkavator.
3 balls locked and Bob's your uncle.

I could swear I've done one of those things...but maybe not. Thanks for the answer. Now if I had a manual or any documentation...yes, I know it's coming.

Quoted from steigerpijp:

I hope everyone is still playing the hell out of this game, with some occasional ironing and maintainance work..
The more I play the more fun it gets, digging into all the deeper rules and so on

100% fun. Love the game. Took longer than I’d like to get it working (had to swap CPU and memory) but it’s a lot of fun.

A bit frustrating that JJP still can’t get the whole package right, including having a manual ready at ship time, but I guess we’ll live with it given the other benefits the company delivers like solid build quality, great playfield/video/sound integration and appealing (to me) themes.

Stlll, if they could release everything at once, including the CE details they’d make a lot more money.

Having trough issues. Help appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks, LTG.

So far I’ve had the CPU and memory replaced. By the time I’m done I’ll have the entire machine replaced. Can’t wait until the warranty runs out.

I received new trough optos from Jersey Jack - sent quickly, which I appreciate. Anyone have a suggestion about the best way to remove/replace the opto with the larger connector? Remove the flipper solenoid, remove the trough, or something easier? Thanks.

#2610 4 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

Remove the apron. Remove the ball trough - two screws underneath and screws on top. No connector for coil so let the whole thing dangle. Then remove the ball trough boards. Shove the metal cylinder out of the rubber grommet, remove the rubber grommet. Put rubber grommet on new board, shove metal cylinder back through rubber grommet.
Reassemble.
LTG : )

Thanks, LTG. Helpful, as usual. I was looking at the trough from the bottom, so your explanation perfect.

Did Steve help you ?
If so this picture will help.

LTG - Does sharing the diagram suggest that a manual is on the way? Admittedly, I’m a broken record, but since owning pins means maintenance and break/fix, a manual is really helpful.

Really glad I didn’t wait for the CE. The LE is excellent and IMHO the additional features aren’t worth anywhere close to three grand. I suspect a few will get snapped up, though.

Quoted from Seatmandan:

Let me try this again-
I just noticed there's a 1.31 code update. Is this update necessary for LE owners? I saw in the release notes there's a reference to Collectors edition.
Also, its a "full install" rather than a "delta upgrade" why is that?
thanks!

Code updates are typically for pins of all levels - SE, LE, etc. You can read the release notes and determine if it’s worth the upgrade. I’ve never not upgraded to a new release since they often fix issues under the hood and almost always add new features and address user-reported problems. I believe it’s a full release because the incremental ones or that code base was resulting in long load times or other issues.

#3430 4 years ago

Game wouldn't turn on today. Slight humming noise. The pin wasn't moved or played since yesterday when it was fully operational. Picture of the boards in the head below. Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Thanks for the pic. Jump = short with metal object. Right?

#3436 4 years ago
Quoted from zaphX:

Right. Bit of wire or screwdriver.
If you need to do CLR CMOS, that should be done with power -off- as I understand it.

That did the trick. Thanks!

Wow. Seriously thorough manual. I really hope that JJP can start publishing manuals when the games ship but I must say it's super detailed and will be helpful in the future.

Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:

I bought a used SE with some pooling. You never notice it from a players perspective. Has it gotten worse over a couple hundred plays? Can’t tell.
Unless you are in the habit of hovering over your machine with a flashlight like a lunatic and shining it at all kinds of funny angles to catch the light properly to reveal the offending posts it’s really not a big deal. It’s happened on like four of my games and I’ve stopped worrying about it.

I felt the same way until my the pooling turned to cracking and I lost the clear coat under a post.

Quoted from delt31:

I can't recommend this enough. Without a sub, the sound is so thin. Prob the worst I've heard of all jjp when not using a sub. In general though there sound isn't as full as the others.
Polk 10 are on all my machines. Big upgrade. Forget updating internal sub or speakers - external I find is the best bang for your buck.
I also recommend tweaking the tv. Colors were washed out beforehand.

100% agree about WW+Polk. The sound was tinny and weak before I added the sub, which led me to add them to add of my pins.
