Joined the club today with an SE. This game is incredible! So many smooth shots and unpredictable ball paths, great light show, infinitely stackable non-linear modes... but you guys probably knew that already

But yeah, magic in a box for sure and what a killer value!

Quoted from konghusker:

How you guys liking Wonka so far compared to DI or potc? I'm considering another pin, and I'm not sure if Wonka is it. I like games with big moments, and a story/adventure progression. Opinions?

Have owned DI for a while and yet to tire of it. Tough call. Wonka has a lot more shots. DI has more “stuff”. Both shoot great and feel like keepers to me. I’ve owned Wonka for a day so I’m probably a terrible person to answer this.

Just got my CE what’s this loose usb cable plug into? It was loose in the bottom.[quoted image]

Return it, clearly a piece of junk!

Just kidding. It's actually a pretty thoughtful design... it fits a USB stick so you can update code without having to open the backbox up. Enjoy

Quoted from konghusker:

What's the general honest opinion on this game so far? Keep debating between Wonka and star wars comic. Opinions?

I had a Star Wars for three years and loved every minute of it. Traded it for a Wonka SE last week, no complaints and having a blast with it.

Will I keep it for 3 years? Probably not.

Both are great choices, and I do feel that the SE is a much better value than SW with the amount of features and build quality.

But SW is one of those games that never gets stale with the speed, flow, and infinite ways to blow it up. Some people REALLY hate the code on SW though, so make sure you play a bunch prior to purchasing to make sure it clicks if you decide to go that route.

So earlier I posted about removing that protective plastic bc it looked better on the right ramp. I've been playing that way for the past month however I would suggest not doing this bc last night the ball did move more than I've ever seen to the left. Luckily not close to causing damage but I'm not pushing it.
Long story short, don't take off the plastic on the right ramp!

Heh yup. Before JJP sent that to me a stray ball snapped the front of my camera right off!

You are right. Fix that gap, it's just a poorly trained Mexican on the production line.

Fix your brain, you’re a poorly trained human

Quoted from Dr-pin:

The whole homepin thread is filled with derogatory Slander about chinese making pinball machines.
Nobody is reacting.
As a bystander, i guess I've never understood the political correct Pecking order.

Last time I checked Stern wasn’t in Mexico, genius. It was a low blow and blatant racism has jack shit to do with political correctness.

#4379 4 years ago

I’m just saying there’s a HUGE difference between saying certain goods produced in Country A are cheaper/inferior compared to Country B vs. “OMG the flipper was messed up because the Mexican worked on it”. End of rant, carry on.

Quoted from billsfanmd:

Looking at a couple right now. What is the deal with the pf...Are they all bad? chipping? pooling ? what was their solutions. LE I am looking at has a chip and some pooling.

I bought a used SE with some pooling. You never notice it from a players perspective. Has it gotten worse over a couple hundred plays? Can’t tell.

Unless you are in the habit of hovering over your machine with a flashlight like a lunatic and shining it at all kinds of funny angles to catch the light properly to reveal the offending posts it’s really not a big deal. It’s happened on like four of my games and I’ve stopped worrying about it.

Standard is best value by far.

I usually go for premium/LE models, but I’ve been having a blast on my standard. Added invisiglass, shaker and hooked’s Interactive RGB strip to the back to brighten up where the LE lock goes.

Figure that was around $500 to upgrade, so it all depends on whether a simple physical ball lock and powder coating is worth $1500 to you.

BTW you can save even more by holding out to find a used standard. That’s the route I went and it has played flawlessly from day 1.

#5027 3 years ago

One thing I like about the virtual lock is you get a few free single ball shots while the multiball intro plays out. Not that I’ve ever come close to beating it haha.

Had Woz and the Hobbit but this is the combo that makes me the happiest. Tastes vary though!

Nice collection.. Funny, I mount all my pingulps on the right side haha.

Lunatic! Just kidding, thanks

Helpful. In my mind, my decision was really between DI and Pirates LE.

I certainly wouldn’t mind a Pirates where DI sits, but my bank account would!
