Playfield hangers bent, the ones that hook into the lockdown bar receiver ?

Or loosen them and slide the playfield over a bit.

Hi LTG.. Thanks for chiming in. Sorry, I am not familiar with what the playfield hangers are. The lockdown bar tightens good and tight.

There isnt really a whole lot of room to slide the playfield it seems. I might be able to slide it over a little and it would help....

Anyone have pictures of playfield hangers?

I just looked up the hanger and i see what you mean, but i am not sure thats the issue. As mentioned, there doesnt seem to be much room to slide it over at all to make up the difference. Looks to be about an 1/8th of an inch off id say.

Loosen the screws holding them to the underside of the playfield. Shove them over. Retighten them.

Quoted from PtownPin:

I'm really surprised how much I love my Wonka...I knew it was a fun game before I purchased, but after owning it a few weeks its really growing on me. I especially like the 4 flippers....rules are a little complicated, but once u figure those out its even more enjoyable

Yeah, I agree. Some aspects of it i thought I wouldn't like before owning. I thought the gobstopper gobble hole was silly. But I really like it. And the wonkavator, ball lock carry over. I do wind up walking by it, seeing two balls in the lock and say to myself, well, i guess I have to play a game...

Rules are really fun, and I definitely want to play another game because of that. Compared to my AC/DC where I play another game because of rage.

#5757 3 years ago

I have owned Wonka for a week, here's a report (not that anyone cares). This is my 4th JJP game and this has lots of razzle dazzle. I'm not even close to understanding the game and rules but am getting there. I seem to get the gumball golden ticket, not sure how though.

Also, Wonka seems to score higher than the other JJP games I have and they are set up about the same. I had less than 100 games on Wonka got a score of 2,281,000 last night followed by first game this morning 1,865,000. My DI my GC score is 1,863,000 with over 1400 plays, and Woz, 2,300,000 & Hobbit 2,600,000 with over 2,000 plays. I try to avoid pops when I shoot initial ball. Most drains seem to be in the middle, followed by right side. I didn't put in left post and have this set on medium difficulty.

Edit,

BTW, my posts in 5683, 5689 & 5691 have been addressed by JJP. They will be in next update. Cheers.

#5758 3 years ago

Not sure if this has been addressed.
I've had my Wonka for about 5 months and I get a TON of SDTM coming out of the left orbit.
Anyone else have this issue and have a fix for it?
Adjusting the pitch didn't seem to help much.

This is just about the only common complaint for the layout of this machine. I remember somewhere in the thread someone added a post that hangs down just to the left of the gobstopper to prevent SDTM, so you can try that if you are feeling adventurous. Other than that, just get ready to slap save.

This, This is killing me, and my love for the game. Just so frustrating. It like it comes from the back of the pops so there is nothing you can do about it. 75% of my drains are from this.

#5761 3 years ago

I might have the left side lane drains as well , but with kickbacks and ball save 12 seconds I don't notice it especially compared to my Star Wars.

When grandkids first tried playing they shot into the bumpers from the get go and instantly drained sdtm. My pitch is 6.75 not sure if that's good or not.

#5762 3 years ago

I have an extra WONKA playfield if anyone is interested. Got a great trade on my machine, but new owner didn't want the extra playfield I had. PM me if interested.

#5763 3 years ago

Game needs to be perfectly level to not get so many drains from pops. Not just between the flippers but also level at middle of playfield so make sure to check both places. If it still happens a fair amount put the back right leg up a few extra turns ....this will help ball go to left flipper tip most the time. Game is very sensitive to small differences much like the di theater.

wow thats interesting...I rarely get these drains....are u 100% sure your level?

#5765 3 years ago

Wow there seems to be a clear divide in opinions over the left orbit SDTM drains. I can 100% attest to the left orbit being a large source of SDTM drains. I've spent hours leveling and re-leveling my Wonka as well as trying various angles. I went from 6.5 to 6.8 and now around 6.6. While I do agree that it makes a difference in having a perfectly level machine, it still doesn't eliminate the issue. Originally, I thought my machine was perfectly level, but the far back was off just a bit. I re-leveled it and got everything spot on and I'd say that my SDTM drains went from about 75% to about 45-50%. So while it's better, it's still a major source of drains. Hitting the left orbit is a substantial risk in the game, especially if the ball misses the pop bumpers. If it hits them, there's a strong chance that there won't be a SDTM drain. But if the ball goes around the orbit and misses all three bumpers, it feels like there's a 75% chance the ball will SDTM drain -- to the point that I'm in the habit of nudging nearly every time the ball goes around the orbit.

For reference, some leveling photos...

#5766 3 years ago

Yeah the left orbit SDTM is annoying but defeatable. We give the game a little jolt when it comes out of there. I’ve found the behavior consistent on every Wonka I’ve played.

I have an unproven theory that where you see rubbers in a game, a designer plans for you to nudge there. There are several rubbers inside the pops area.

Quoted from PtownPin:

I agree. Luckily I dont have this problem.

#5768 3 years ago

Have had Wonka for about a year now. Still loving it! It still gets played almost daily and has over 4000 games on it (kids will sometimes play it for hours).

Quoted from txstargazer3:Remove the Gobstopper by pulling up on it. Then, turn over the gobstopper and remove the three screws holding the Y-shaped plate in place. Then remove the plate from the Gob and set the Gob aside. At this point, I saw that there were scrape marks on the plate where it had been hitting the two screw heads that hold the motor in place.
You will see a short cylindrical piece of the Y-plate that was inside the Gob. It has two small Allen screws in it. The Allen screw farthest from the Y-plate was not screwed in far enough so the whole assembly was slipping down and hitting the screw heads on the top of the motor. I tightened that Allen screw until it stuck about halfway into the hole in the shaft. I did not touch the other Allen screw.
Just put the plate back in the same way it came out and put the three screws back in to the plate/Gob. Slip it back onto the shaft and you should immediately see that it created a nice gap beneath the Gob. As you slip the glass back on, make sure the glass will clear the Gob. Mine did with no trouble and it spins like crazy now!
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

I need to remove the Y-plate to attach the screws to the Gobbstopper. What size Allen wrench did you use? It's smaller than anything I have.
Thanks

I'm hoping to b try my game for awhile with the playfield magnets off. Any easy way to do this? I've scoured the settings and haven't found anything. I've also gone through the manual a bit to see if there is a simple connector that could be unplugged, but couldn't find anything. I could de-solder the wires. Might do this but was hoping for a more easily reversible option. Has anyone else found the magnets a bit annoying? (Not the kid multiball lane magnet)

I love the randomness of the 6 magnets . There sld b a setting for them I'd think but if not they sld have a plug to each set of 3 magnets .

Your right there is no setting like there is on dialed in .... weird. Hopefully the next code update one cld be added ? Have a off, minimum , normal, high and crazy. Anyhow I believe you cld unplug each set of 3 magnets pretty easily .

#5773 3 years ago

I don't dislike the magnets, but would like to give it a try without them for a bit. Looking at the wires currently.... hard to trace them without cutting the ties, but it looks like there might be connectors. Going to coil test now

#5774 3 years ago

Looks like undoing these two connectors did the trick. Hopefully didn't disable anything else

I could have sworn that I saw a setting for this over the weekend when looking for something else.

Where are the magnets? I thought it was talking about the KID magnet or something.

There is a magnet and core at the far left(kid multiball)that can catch the ball. However there are 6 smaller magnets in between the 6 circles of light clusters....and depending on what the lights are doing the magnets are active.

#5782 3 years ago

Does anybody know the size coil sleeves JJP uses in their flippers?

Well that explains that then hahaha. I didnt know that and wondered from time to time why the ball would travel strangely around those. Figured maybe it was ball spin or something.

Thanks!

Buy the longest ones and cut them down, never need a special size again

Man this game has some really great flow once you get the hang of it. Super fun!

Lol, nothing like making your own mods! You can hand paint them also to cover the print lines. I like your mushroom farm btw.
