Hi
I read about that problem and it's usually the battery. On my WW I don't have 3 conventional batteries (don't know how it's call) nothing seems corroded or cracked.
Is these batteries can die like usual batteries?

Once I start the game, it pops 4 times this error and the screen dies. I can't access the service.
Any advices?
Thanks

Put a meter on it and see.

LTG : )

This but for real though LTG to the Rescue hahahaha. Are those leads soldered on to the battery? That seems odd? I feel like a simple remote battery pack would be so much easier.

I might sound stupid (people assume when you have 30games+ you know what you do, I measure 3,67DC from the + and - of the battery. Am I correct?

Thats what it should read.
At boot up..what does your center led next to batteries do?....how many times does it blink?

#6 6 years ago

Diagnostic blink once and +5 VDC stays solid

But the adjust failure error doesn't appear now. Black screen with only the GIs.

The game starts with a knocker noise.

U-6 rom failure..one blink, game code rom.
Check all ribbon cables first, then press on game rom, make sure its fully seated. Data not leaving cpu to tell rest of pin what to do. Including display.
Is that battery making solder contact with cpu?

Where is the game rom button when you say press on it? Thanks!!!

That looks like a lithium battery. They do indeed go bad eventually. "Adjust Failure" generally indicates dead batteries, or the battery holder not making proper connection. It may also indicate a RAM failure.

EricPinballFan offers sound advice: First reseat the ribbon cables. My Earthshaker displays were completely out, and it was due to a very slightly loose ribbon cable.

He doesn't mean press a button, but rather, gently press on the ROM chips themselves to make sure they haven't come loose out of their sockets from vibration. They're located on the middle lefthand side of the board with white labels on them.

Pfff this game has been my nemesis for sometimes.
A guy repaired the video board. No success. I swap brand new pinscore display and video board. No success. I changed the ribbon cable for a new one. I now know sometimes these variable work cause it flashes the "failure" error once in while. Sometimes the knocker will knock.

I had this game for years. Actually my go to game for a quick fix. A sysyem11 tank. Now it's been a nightmare.

Fuses are good. I reseted connectors, pushed gently roms. Maybe I need an Exorcist

I changed my weird battery for a usual remote batteries system.
Adjust failure is still there at start up and the 5volt led is solid, diagnostic is blinking and blanking is solid.
If I go into the service, diagnostic and blanking don't light anymore, the knocker goes on 1 time and the screen dies.

Is it good news?

Check D-2 diode for open in both directions. If it is open then replace it with a 1N914 diode.

#15 6 years ago

Back square one.
The game now only boot with the starting sound and nothing else. Only 5volt led is lighting. Screen is dead and no more adjust failure. It's worst than ever
Batteries are good. A measured them also on the board to be sure.

I tried everything I could read about the coin door open or close.

Can you show me where is D2 and how to measure it?
Thanks

#16 6 years ago

D-2 is a half inch to the left of the battery. Put meter on diode test setting and touch leads to the diode then reverse the leads and retest. In one direction you should read.400-.600 and the other direction you should read OL or open for a good diode. OL or open in both directions is a bad diode.

Mine was knocking like that and doing some similar things to yours and it turned out to be the bridge rectifier on the 5v.and my black belt has a similar battery but only larger.I know it was put on at least 17 years ago and still working I think it was an old solution to changing batteries on route.

I get 0.635 foward and 0 on reverse.

So it's good

Where is the 5v rectifier and how to measure it?

Thanks again

Hopefully that links you to a thread about my WW.

Thank. Really interesting.

I also read a low voltage on the 5volt led (1.6v). Both Diagnostic and blanking are dead.
I swap my WW power board for a brand new pinscore I had in BK2k. I know this board is working. No success.

Where the voltage is dropping?
(WW power board is working great in BK2k)

What do you get at the positive side of C-24 on the CPU when you have it powered up?
