I want to trade or sell my Whirlwind! My whirlwind has a few issued but nothing major at all. It plays great!.
Good:
No wear at the spinners
The spinners themselves are in great shape
Working topper
Mostly LEDs
New LED display
No battery damage to boards
Manual included

Bad:
Play field has some weird stuff going on near the van area
Insert damage to the million plus
Insert crazing to the upper inserts
Cab is somewhat rough with some wood damage and lockdown bar holes
Does a weird thing when turn it on sometimes it takes 2 tries
After playing for an hour the lower right flipper becomes sticky
Usual broken plastics
And needs to be shopped out cause its kinda dirty.
I'm looking for any pinball you got.
LOCAL DEALS ONLY. Thank

Don't do it!

#6 10 years ago

I'd do this in a second if we were closer.

#7 10 years ago

I really think taxi is climbing in popularity. The price may one day come close to whirlwind, so I am not so sure that this is a bad trade on either side.

#8 10 years ago

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

#9 10 years ago

I've owned both. Taxi is GREAT. But once you beat it and get that jackpot I felt it was somewhat over with. Although the bell is super cool and the callouts.

WW on the other hand seems to have more stayablilty in my collection. Two ball AND three ball multiball etc.

Finding a nice taxi is good shape is difficult and I actually think finding a ww in the same quality is easier.

Regardless of all that, if the seller wants a taxi, give him a taxi!

I completely and respectfully disagree. There is so much more to Taxi than just the jackpot. I just put up a 12M+ score on mine with only 1 jackpot scored during play. You also have the express lane option, which is very lucrative if done after each pick up, and the ramp million is also a valid/diverse strategy. Whirlwind is a great game too, but selling Taxi short of being a "jackpot" game is not a fair assessment. Sorry.

Good luck with finding a Taxi. I agree that these machines are now pretty close in price, so you should find a good trade.

I have both - never tired of Taxi after 2 years - always my go to game. WW is waiting on a full resto haven't set it up yet...both great games.

Taxi is like the pistons in the late 80s. Isaiah Thomas was not even close to being the biggest star in the nba, but put Rodman, doumars, laimbeer and the rest of the random dudes on a team all of a sudden you got bad boys; back to back world champions. That's taxi. Not the most beautiful art or the deepest rules or the most flowing layout. But all the aspects combined and you have the best pinball ever built.

#13 10 years ago

^ I'm assuming by this you wouldnt trade yours.

Bam! You said it my friend. Best analogy ever. Sincerely, James "Buddha" Edwards

I wish I hadn't sold my Taxi or I would do this trade in a second! I got sick of Taxi and sold it, that I don't regret, but a Whirlwind would be a welcome addition! That being said BTTF, and Flash Gordon are here to stay. I tired of Taxi pretty quickly and have no desire to own it again. It's fun, but it's very limited in my opinion and the theme did nothing for me.

Value wise I think this is as even as it gets, it all comes down to preference. Good luck with the trade!

#17 10 years ago

I like Taxi and WW both. Both are great games. I've never owned a Taxi, but I do own WW and I, personally, could never let it go for anything. WW is definitely a keeper for me.

#18 10 years ago

Whirlwind is my first pin so its special but I'm rather bored of it. I just looking for something different as well. I would be open to other trades just HMU!

#20 10 years ago

If you came to me and said "Hey, I'm going to put Drac, Pinbot, Marliyn, and Gorbi on a pin and make it work", I'd say you were nutz, but it totally works. I love this pin. Taxi makes me feel bad about bashing WOZ because it is proof that any theme no matter how insane can "work". I'll play WOZ in another week or so at Gamewarp. Let you know how that goes. Though as much as I love Taxi, I'd still never compare it to a Whirlwind.

I can't remember the last time I got the jackpot on Taxi....

#23 10 years ago

Got my Taxi off of Blackbeard and its a keeper! I've only hit jackpot twice in 7 months! Love me some crazy Python games

I must be getting pretty good? I hit the jackpot twice in just a handful of games yesterday.

Best of luck with your search Ronnie.

I played a Taxi to death while doing laundry for two years in Myrtle Beach, SC, before it became a year round resort, waaaasy back. Love Taxi, but Whirl was my first pin buy after being out of the hobby for a few years. 9 years after selling it, I still miss it and the 3 shot combo, air raid siren is both sexy, pristine, and one of the Best system 11 moments ever! Either/or both great pins, but Whirl stands out for me.~SpOoKy

#36 10 years ago

tempting, but i fear shipping would kill the deal have you ever done a shipped trade?

#37 10 years ago

Nope never shipped. I'm open to it but would much rather trade locally.

#39 10 years ago

I would love to try out a Taxi.. Anyone have one in Michigan area they want to sell?

Thanks-Cory

#42 10 years ago

Nothing yet.....

#43 10 years ago

No one wants to trade for my whirlwind? I consider any offers.

#44 10 years ago

when no trades are out there i've always ended up buying what i wanted and selling the game up for trade to cover or help cover the cost.

#45 10 years ago

I love WW and am local enough..., I love thus state! The evergreen state of WA

Did you decal the cab?

I have WW (3rd one) and Taxi (2nd one) and both are keepers. Both have things about them that keep me coming back and I'm a Sys 11 fan.

#48 10 years ago

Dang.....my wife's grail....but to far of a drive.....bump for a great game.

#49 10 years ago

No, the cab is just touched up. I'd like a whirlwind, but don't want to let anything go right now. it's the best of the big three from childhood.. the other two being Addams (which isn't that fun to me as an adult) and pin bot, which is great, but I traded for grand lizard.
