That is looking good. What products are you using?
I just installed my EL wire but I am very interested in this.

#21 8 years ago

I just did 5 3W RGB flashers on my Virtual pin. The setup sounds close on that part anyway.
This is a great project I will be watching closely.
Thanks for sharing.

#30 8 years ago

Looks great is the demo for one ramp? Four led’s to run both ramps?

#40 8 years ago

Two different colors integrated with the modes to change colors.

#49 8 years ago

I would like to see on cycle MB have left ramp orange right ramp be blue.
On disc MB have both ramps slowly fade in and out red maybe if you hit the shot go bright red.
I know this is getting ahead of the project but I would like to hear what other think on the colors. (no pink)

#57 8 years ago

Now you got me. I will be ripping out some EL wire sometime in the future.
This should be a very cool mod.

#61 8 years ago
Quoted from ecurtz:

EDIT: It would be optional, it's only to try and improve the interaction with the game,

Two independent colors controlled by game play. Wow this is going to be very cool.
The possibilities are just endless.

#70 8 years ago

Looking at the box of parts I can just see all the cool possibilities.
I better get back to work so I can buy these.

#75 8 years ago
Quoted from Troz:

or at least for what I have in mind.

Let’s hear your color changing ideas.

#78 8 years ago
Quoted from Troz:

There's actually much more complexity than that, such as watching the Light Cycle inserts for when jackpots are awarded or if Quorra multiball is stacked, but that should give you the general idea.

Yes this one is not straight forward.
I was not looking for unique ideas. Just hey this mode would be cool if we used these colors.
We could watch for this etc mode light and this event would say it was done.

It would be great to start kicking around ideas.

I am glad the parts are here. Very exciting stuff!

I used these for my EL wire they worked great.
UGlu Dashes Roll.
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/uglu-dashes-roll-793380/
I will have to try them on these.

They look brighter now.

#120 7 years ago

I really think the two different colors like you are doing is the way to go.
Once integrated into game play it could potentially be better than the original design.

#127 7 years ago

Yes they do look great. I have visions of cool colored ramps dancing in my head.
Twas the weeks before Tron ramp upgrade and all through the house not a pinhead was stirring not even a mouse…..
Ok I am excited about this project.

#133 7 years ago

Ok I have the fiber ramps installed. Here is the first look of the new ramps installed.
These are very cool. The EL wire is off the fiber is on to stay. I just drilled my pro ramps and installed the new fiber today.

Must have Tron Pro mods.

1. New fiber ramps (by Eli)
2. Tron Arcade Mod 2.1v (attract code by Eli)
3. TRON recognizer bank decal (Pinball_customs)
4. Flynn's Sign Mod (DK Pinball)
5. Hallmark Cycles (ebay)
6. ….

Eli has the top two mods and he does not even own a Tron.
Thanks Eli for your hard work from a Tron Pro owner.

#148 7 years ago
Quoted from ChadH:

Can you post a video showing the color changing?

It is uploading I have a very slow upload here. Sorry I did not have time to rotate it but I figured you would want it today sideways then get it tomorrow rotated.

#150 7 years ago

You can rotate a video in the YouTube editor now. (Don’t forget the change it to HD when you watch)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?edit=vd&v=GVMzkbuUTvo

I did not capture all the color sequences. But I have to say it very nice playing with the color changing. I put on about 50 games on the new ramps and ended going to bed a 5am crazy. The controllers were warm but not hot and ramp kit performed very well no issues. just cool color changing.

I have a pig ordered but it will not be my solution for changing ramp colors.
Advance model all the way for me. The pig will have other duty’s.
When I installed these fiber optic ramps I sold my EL wire the next day.

3 weeks later
#211 7 years ago

When I installed the Fiber kit from Eli I sold my EL wire the very next day.
It is very cool and not limited to both ramps the same color. If you don’t like the colors you can easily change them.

#213 7 years ago
Quoted from Hwawonyu:

Cool. Will he sell the whole kit fiber controller etc. Or do I have to go buy the fiber somewhere?

I have a beta kit and they came with the fiber and controllers ready to install. Beta testers did their own mounting but Eli will provide mounting brackets in the released kit.

Quoted from iskidoo:

Is the data you are reading from J2 and J3 like on the Premium? Or are you reading it elsewhere? Just wondering if anything is being output on those pins on the Pro models?

No there is none on the Pro. That would have made it to easy.

#235 7 years ago

I drilled mine as long as you take your time it is not too bad. It is better than buying new ramps.

#237 7 years ago

Yes you need to remove them it gives you a good excuse to clean the back loop.

3 weeks later
#281 7 years ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

To me, it's a cheap mod ($80 or so) and a placeholder for the color changing mod

Yes the day after I installed the fiber optic ramps I sold my "place holder EL ramps."
Fiber optic ramps are just so much better. I totally agree having orange and blue during light cycle is how it should be.
This kit will not be limited to what Stern programmed the LE to do. You don’t even have to stick with the colors the kit comes out with you can customize it.

#285 7 years ago
Quoted from Don1:

What are some of the issues being adressed with the testing group currently

I have been running the figer optic ramps for 3 months. They work great and I have had no issues at all. The integration board has been in development. This will allow the game the ramp colors and effects to sync with what is happen with the game. Eli has been working on the boards (look at his update in this post) we should have the final version of the board next week.

#293 7 years ago
Quoted from Santeh:

Hmmm. I was thinking about this. I am curious, then, if it might indeed bring down LE value or simply raise the value of the Pro. We shall see, I suppose.

Either way there will be a lot more people enjoying their Tron Pro’s!
It just makes it more fun to play and looks really cool doing it.

#325 7 years ago

I am beta testing and I am very excited about the project.
The ramps look so cool.

#329 7 years ago
Quoted from spidey:

This will replace the arcade mod as "best mod ever."

Then he is beating out his own mod because without Eli's code running on the Arcade mod it would not be the mod it is today.

#402 7 years ago
Quoted from Propaganda:

Are these ever going to be sold?

Are you buying a Tron to put them in? I thought you were against mods?

Quoted from luvthatapex2:

Here is a video I took today showing the latest progress with the lamp lighting modes.
All of the main modes are mostly working.
Non-modes such as Quorra Spinner, Recognizer bank, and some other things are also shown.

End of game and attract mode are not coded yet.

Thanks for taking the video.
This version is very fun to play. My son’s and I are enjoying it.

#459 7 years ago
Quoted from Propaganda:

What happens if Stern updates the Tron code?

It will still work fine.
Thanks for stopping by to the Tron club thinking about joining?

#469 7 years ago
Quoted from luvthatapex2:

ok, here are 2 videos with the glass off to show todays progress.

It even looks better in person.

#486 7 years ago

All the advance features were stripped out to get the core features working.
Now they are being added back in.
I want light cycle to at least have two colors. It was made to have orange and blue.
The rest of them are not a big deal.

Ho no every Tron post will be shorter for you.

Quoted from arizonabuck:

Will the mod work on the new Tron run?

Yes

#677 7 years ago
Quoted from ecurtz:

I consider the arcade mod "mine" anyway, so I guess I'm safe for now.
(Not to short change Jeremy, who designed the cabinet and Mark who upgraded that, but I sourced the screen and wrote all the code.)

It is your mod. Without the code running on the screen the arcade mod would not exist.
The ramp mod is the cake and the Arcade mode is the icing on the top of the cake.

#797 7 years ago

I just used a drill and it worked fine but I like the dremel idea. If I did it again I would use a dremel tool. You guys are going to love this kit it is just icing on a great Tron.

#804 7 years ago
Quoted from frolic:

This is my EL Wire with tape.

The EL wire is lighter than the fiber. I don’t think it would be strong enough to hold the fiber long term.

Quoted from treborlicec:

I used the standoff method. On the right I used an existing playfield post with a nut and installed there. Nice and secure. On the left I used an existing screw, but I mounted the standoff using a longer and larger (thicker) screw for a more secure fit/hold. They have both held up great, so far.

Pictures please.

Using a long USB cord hanging out rear of backbox for loading updates without having to open backbox and recent update took three minutes to upload. Really cool setup.

This is the way I have done the updates from day one. It works very well. I have loaded many updates this way.
