Quoted from Pinchroma:

Guys,
Why not use these? They come real small and clear. No drilling. They also make tiny closed loop ones for you to ziptie too. No permanent mods. OP can include them in the kit for a few bucks.http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=A10057&Search.x=0&Search.y=0

Hhhmmm. Anyone have pictures of these in action? I'm using the clear tape method now.

I've been following this thread closely. I'm in... at the right price. I have the EL wire now and am very happy with it, so depending on the $$, this may go in the Buy It Now category.

Quoted from Benaar:

You have the EL wire w/ just solid colors? What are you using to light them? Just curious.

I followed coasterguy's tutorial to the letter. I plugged the wire into the service outlet but got the infamous 'ghost' scoring.

Instead, I am using a smartstrip inside the cabinet. Tron and the EL wire plug into the strip, and when I turn on Tron, everything lights up normally with no mystery servo problems. Many months now and no problems.

To me, it's a cheap mod ($80 or so) and a placeholder for the color changing mod, depending on cost.

Looks cool, reversible, and inexpensive.

Any update on the price? Sounds great so far!

#289 11 years ago

I'm not sure any other mod available can actually increase the desire/value of a machine, but I think this may be the one.

Keep it up!

Well if you want an update:
The software sits where it was 2 weeks ago (see previous videos) and is undergoing constant play testing. There are some bugs but it's basically stable. I think the features we have added are very fun. Playing the PRO with ramp lighting has totally spoiled me. I think everyone will love this mod and enjoy making new combinations and versions of their own.
In a week or so, we will take a day and fix the bugs and that will be version 1.
Eli will have to update you on his plan for the hardware.

$500+ for lights. LOL

Can't wait for this mod.

And yes, I'm one of those guys who paid $5000 for a wooden box full of wires, cheap plastic, and blinky bulbs... just like you

I just ignored my first user!

Sorry about that...
He meant to say lame ass troll with no life.... Simple typo. Happens all the time.

Standing by for the inevitable "You're personally attacking me!" response in 3, 2, 1...

I'm down for a final version

I originally used tape for the EL wire, but it sags over time. Eli's wire seems like it has more weight and will probably sag even more.

I absolutely recommend drilling the ramps. It takes 15 minutes to remove the ramps, 30 minutes to drill, and 15 minutes to reinstall. Just take your time. Thread with thin white zip ties.

This is a fantastic mod -- best of luck with the test runs!

#840 11 years ago

Here's a shot of my drilled ramps. The spacing is close to the LE but not exact. I may have used clear zip ties, but they looked pretty white to me.
