Found this in a pin coin box. They're all 5A fast acting. Any ideas? Was he trying to make a 20A?

It looks like the prototype of a flux capacitor.

That's called the "Never Blo" fuse. It's perfect for smoking out problems.

The total current rating of 3 or 4 fuses in parallel is approximately 90 percent of the rating multiplied by the number of fuses. They must be within 5% resistance tolerance of each fuse and mounted specifically with flexible conductor. There are some other oddities about an arrangement like this that have to be taken into account based on the design of the circuit it is in.

So based on the math and what we can only assume, is they were attempting to make a 20A fuse, but ended up with something on the order of an 18A but in reality something less than 18A due to the imperfection between the fuses, heat generation, mounting, inductance etc... etc...

Fuse blows occasionally. So stack one on top of the other so when the first one blows, it goes upwards to the second one, then the next, then the last. Once all four blow, then replace it and start over.

Easier than fixing a hard to find, slow short.

    LTG : )

The guy I got it from.

Isn't it obvious? There's no box for the fuses! Solder them together and they won't be seperated and rolling around the machine!
But seriously, that's a scary hack job when you think about it.
