Check the level. Mine did the same thing until I put a book under one side to level it.

It's right.
From the manual at http://www.bubblehockey.com/images/document/SuperChexxServiceManual.pdf
"The puck may be ejected manually by pressing the Boo/Eject buttons."
The idea is that during normal play, the puck may fall back into the eject hole, and pressing the button ejects it back into play. The BOOOO sounds are just a bonus.
