Hey fellow Chexx lovers, new pinside member here. Trying to get my first pin soon, a Fish Tales I hope, been saving up. I have been into pre '90 arcade games, especially Chexx, since I purchased a Ms pac cocktail in 98 (I still have!) Here are a few of my before & after Chexx restores. My favorite is the 83 model, I remember seeing my first in 87 at the movie theater arcade, the addiction started then & there!! I have a couple buddies that help me paint teams & design what's in my head on how I want it to look. I have perfection ocd & I think it shows lol !

I also recently did a Seattle Kraken table that came out great. It was a special edition Gretzky Challenge Dome from early 00s vs the Dallas Stars, so I kept that theme. As of this post, Seattle still not available to order thru Ice. I went all out on this one, it had one bad scratch across dome, but my wet sanding skills nearly knocked it out. Gretzky is teamed with Coffey, Robitaille, Bourque, Hull, & Fuhr in the net! Once Seattle has players, I will add real names & numbers to them.

Thanks! I have a good friend that can design, print, & paint my guys. I can envision what I want, he makes it happen. The usa flag on the other side along the red handles & collars really pops too. Snappy - the washers are designed that way. The first couple times removing & installing players will be tuff. Place one hand on ice around player, then other hand wrap 2 fingers around bottom of player & pull straight up with force. Some owners don't use the washers, try without them, if players don't fly off (usually kids playing rough cause this) just leave off.

Sirgubster- you have the 83 model, nice! Paper manual on ebay sometimes, pdf online. I just picked up another 83 recently & shooting some vids cleaning it up. Hit me up if you need help, I can fix the scoreboard & pcb most times.

If anyone needs 83 scoreboard period lights with new bulbs pm me !! I hope to do a trade-in program, where you send me your burned out ones & I send good ones back. I have like 8 scoreboards worth of the period lights, so they are ready to go! If trading in, $15 each. If no trade in, $40 each.

As you may have found out, these are not simple plug in bulbs. I found the right bulbs to solder in. You cannot buy these from Ice.

Do you believe in miracles?? 83 Chexx sound chips U11 & U12 successfully replicated! I started with these as they are most commonly missing due to operators throwing away so they didn't have to listen to attract sounds. These are not available anywhere else. Limited sets available as these chips are no longer made & hard to source (you don't want to know what I did for them lol). Special pricing for here & our Chexx Facebook group, $75 for the set of 2 plus shipping.

So these are the "attract" sounds while the game is NOT in play. Back in the day, operators would get tired of hearing it, pulled the 2 chips, trashed them usually, and the game still operated like normal just without the attract sounds. So alot of 83 model Chexx that were on route, are now missing these! I have 6 spare pcb's I've aquired and 3 were missing these!

My latest restore, I made it into Kraken vs Canucks! Lots of new parts, best custom nets, base painted, coin door installed, & dome sanded and polished! Next owner will have players painted, I didn't have time on this one. Now just 1 more 83 to clean up in my hoard!

Not sure if we have been in contact recently, but if you need repair still email me at [email protected]. I'm usually busy with real job, but have fixed 100+ people's chexx now. I've hoarded a lot of the parts needed and remanufactured the 83 scoreboard electronics.

Unfortunately ICE isn't much help with electronics on models older than a Pro now. Even the pcb's and scoreboards show Unavailable. They want you to buy a Pro/Pro "upgrade" kit
