Long shot... I have really nice custom islanders / rangers and looking to trade for caps / canes if anybody happens to have a set.

Hi everyone - proud new owner of an extremely dirty and well-used, but mechanically sound, 1983 red-base Chexx. Getting into cleaning it up right now and getting the electronics squared away.

Especially interested to hear from anyone who's gone through one of these machines before.

    Hi all
I bought a set of original goals for my 1983 chexx restore and they have yellowed just sitting in my room
Are there other options available? The NHL style ones look good, do they fit the 1983 Chexx and best place to buy?

    #2905 1 year ago

I think, you could do the un yellow that they do for console plastics? Or at least worth a shot if you were going to replace them.

ICE themselves sell the nets. And there are some people on the FB group, maybe I can find the website, that also custom make/mod nets to look like NHL ones.

If anyone needs some reference photos here's me going through mine - https://photos.app.goo.gl/FbPP8kzuvKkoco3u6

My handle grips were disgusting, new ones were pricey, some rubbing alcohol and elbow grease made them look like new!
    Replaced the bulbs with LEDs
    3D printed the humps/goal bottoms
    Repaired some crispy connectors
    Polished the dome with Novus
Replaced some broken reed switches on the shots sensor
    Painted the guys
Did a quick sand/paint on the coin door
    Replaced all the lexan washers
Replaced the dome bolts with standard hex ones and some 3D printed washers

Can anyone advise on Ice Game distributors and their pricing? I know that distributors are prohibited from advertising prices below what Ice sells for, but I'm wondering if I have room to haggle.

The game I'm looking at is $4795 on the Ice site.

An authorized distributor on eBay selling for $4795 with free shipping. If eBay's cut is 12.9%, then they get $4215 after fees, so is it reasonable to think I could ping them directly and get the game for $4500 so we both save?

    Thanks for any feedback!

I purchased my 'Miracle on Ice' version in October of 2014 directly from ICE. The authorized distributors always seem to have their games priced the same as ICE. I don't think that haggling is really an option with the Super Chexx Pro games, but if you can get a few hundred off the ICE price then good for you.

Yeah let us know how you do!

    Quoted from Chalkey:

Full disclosure: it's actually for a Super Kixx game, so even though Chexx is 100x as popular there is still a 3+ month lead time for the Kixx game right now.

So far, the best price I've found is a Maine dist that quoted me $4695 with free shipping no tax(I'm in Utah and they don't sell enough here to meet some threshold). $100 cheaper than Ice and no tax, not bad.

As for eBay, they have a few Kixx listed there now and one is buy-it-now at $4795. If they only get $4215 from that sale after fees, maybe $4500 direct to me is a win/win.

Would like opinions on the "skated on" ice surface.
    Worth it?
Which do you prefer, classic or skated?

    Thanks

If I were buying new or had to replace my surface I would go with the skated, unless there was an upcharge for it. I wouldn't swap out for the skated surface if there were no issues with my existing surface.

It's 200$ more for the skated surface.

That's rough! I like the skated surface and, again, if I were buying new I'd consider it but 200$ for something completely cosmetic is tough. Already spending over 3k what's 200$

I have it. I really like it. I think it’s worth the extra $$

At long last... got my ground lights installed on my Super Chexx! I'm hoping it'll attract some attention from the other side of the brewery as it slowly fades colors.

I got the skated on when I ordered my super chexx last year. Wasn’t a $200 difference though.

Is that an accessory or comes with newer machines?

    #2921 1 year ago

I got it as an add-on accessory for my non-pro super chexx. I believe it's a factory and add-on option for the pro.

Hey there does anyone know whether the nets from a Super Chexx fit the original 1983 Chexx machines? I like the more modern looking nets in goal

    #2928 11 months ago

I believe all the parts are compatible.

    #2929 11 months ago

I have a super chexx machine in eastern PA that I'm looking to trade for a pinball. It's in amazing condition with no marks on playfield and nothing noticeable on dome or base. Please let me know if anyone is interested and what you have to offer

Nets work on both, a direct swap.

I bought the LED lamp below for my Super Chexx and it's strobing a bit.. does anybody have any idea? I assume it's not compatible with the ballast... is there another lamp that anybody can recommend? Also can I remove the ballast and rewire it so it will use a ballast bypass lamp?

Does anyone know anything about interchangeable parts between the super chexx and the original chexx. Ive only had the super chexx, and parts are easy to replace and easy to find. AKA gear boxes, goals, pucks, sensors, men, collars, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Looking to get original, but dont want to get stuck with something that has no parts available. Thanks todd

    #2941 10 months ago

Look at ICE's website I think they have a Chexx section

    #2942 10 months ago

Most of the non electronic parts are interchangeable between versions. You can get a replacement scoreboard kit from Boston Pinball.

I badly need this too but $63 shipping to Australia? I'm out

    #2948 10 months ago

Got an original chexx, while I’m ordering parts, does anyone recommend upgrading the goalie from the original goalie (with shaft in goalie) to the newer style (with shaft in block) these originals seem to be / work fine. They are $20 each goalie to upgrade. Thanks for any help.

    #2949 10 months ago

Can anyone talk about the differences between the John Walton and Rick Jeanneret commentary? Thinking about going with Walton for a non-Caps version of the game. Is it just as easy to customize if desired?

    #2950 10 months ago

    What’s up guys.

I have a Superchexx Pro and the center logo is simply the ‘ICE’ logo. Is it possible to change to the NHL logo with a sticker or decal? If so when you put a sticker or decal on the ice does it affect the puck at all?

I’m also looking for a riser platform for a red base. Does anyone sell those?

    Thnx!
