These are two games that I'll own someday.
I play the hell out of a Fish Tales when I see one on location (even when beaten up).
I haven't played High Speed 2 as much and when in good condition I enjoy it (dig S. Ritchie games),
when it is in bad condition or not working right I didn't enjoy it too much at all.

I find FTs for about $1500 and HS2s for about $1200.

I'll be checking out a HS2 for $1100 next week (talk down to $1000)
and a FT possibly for $1400 (talk down to $1200).
So far my strategy is to get the best quality of these for
the best price in a first come first serve basis.

This may make next week difficult.
I only really car about the playfield and having a functional topper on these.
If the sides are faded I'm not too annoyed.

High speed 2 is what i would pick, since you will be checking it out play a few
games and compare it to fish tales.

Both excellent games so your strategy of whichever comes along first in nice condition is good.
Fishtales just edges it for me overall.

#4 9 years ago

Both are excellent bang for buck pins. HS2 very fast, great flow. FT is really addictive and looks even better with LED's.

#5 9 years ago

I own an HS2, I could have owned a FT. Same price, same condition. I had both games at work for years, the FT is probably the deeper game, the HS2 more stimulating. Both great titles IMO.

#6 9 years ago

I've also owned both, and my Fishtales ain't going anywhere. HS2 was fun though too Loops and more loops

#7 9 years ago

Pretty even games i reckon but would choose Fishtales if could only have the one

#8 9 years ago

Fishtales imo.. HS2 didn't really have me interested when I played it. Fishtales is just straight up fun and very difficult.

rock > blue grass

The music in Fish Tales drives me nuts. I'd pick HS2 in a heartbeat.

I'll be checking out HS2 on Friday before work. The guys needs money as he is getting divorced so...

Well I look @ a HS2 tomorrow, TBD if I drive home with it.

#15 9 years ago

Not even close....FT ....even with hillbilly music.

#16 9 years ago

Get both, I did!

#17 9 years ago

fishtales hands down in my opinion. HS2 is fun but can get old. i have had my fishtales for 3-4 years and it will never leave it has a deep rule set and as simonakapw stated looks great with LEDs im waiting on a few more bulbs and it will be complete but it all depends on what you like.

#18 9 years ago

HS2. I tried very hard to like fishtales and just cannot get there with it. HS2 didnt grab me either but the more I play it, the better I like it. Good luck!

#19 9 years ago

FT has a deep rule set? Did they make a different one?

#20 9 years ago

For my money, I had more fun playing Fish Tales than I did playing High Speed 2 back in the day. Sure, HS2 had a lot to live up to, but it just didn't have the right feel to me, even not considering trying to live up to the original.

I really like Getaway but don't like FT. However, there is more depth to FT. Not very much to do with Getaway. If I am in a mood in which I don't have to think, I go to Getaway.

Well the dealer flaked on me the last day that I was working in the Miami area.
I don't plan on being down there any time soon either...

I found an excellent FT locally for $1500 with almost no fade on cabinet, fully working,
great playfield and a happy fish on top. Once my expense checks come in from work
It'll be in the garage next to Sky Jump.

sounds perfect Protein. I love our FT. In fact I was just playing it about 10 min ago.
What a bonus with the no-fade decals, ours looks like faded crap... but the pf is perfect.

#25 9 years ago

Nice. After shipping I paid about that much for my faded and tired FT back in 2006. It was my first one; what can I say?

#26 9 years ago

ft good luck

#27 9 years ago

Yep, yep Fish Tales all day long, much nicer to look at.

#28 9 years ago

I have a few options for decorations around the machine too.
Old christmas lights shaped like blue whales
and
Broken outboard boat motors!

#29 9 years ago

I like them both, but the "bad thing" about the getaway is that the two goals of the game (multiball & red line mania) are both the same...

So I would take Fishtales the is more to do...

I came to realize that I wanted HS2 basically because I wanted another Steve Ritchie game.
No Fear is mega fun but I'll just get a Spider-Man someday as my 2nd SR game.

#31 9 years ago

Both or stick to HighSpeed. I love it..

SHIFT GEAR.

#32 9 years ago

I just played some HS2 in Fairfax VA @ John's Place and played La Grange on the jukebox while shifting gears.

Thanks for the participation.
I found a good conditioned Fish Tales in Jacksonville FL with a great cabinet with just a slight fade!
It was owned by me pinball tech's sister's boyfriend haha rad!
After 3 new balls and some leveling it is rock'n!
Its a little quick for my dad and mom but they'll get a hang of it.
So far it's the last pin that i'll be buying for my dad's arcade garage.

#34 9 years ago

FT is better than HS2 because of the different modes it has.

Well FT is Mark Ritchie, so close enough.
