I've been looking for a Checkpoint, a good choice for a first pin in my opinion, but since they've only appeared on eBay and the prices are sky-high, I would like to find one that is in the $800-$1400 range.

I digg that game kwiKimart
fast cars and music was a long time since I played one
but if I remember the music was set for country
I'd rather of set it for punk but.........
like you said try to find one - good luck
Good choice on a first pin! Unless you want to drop 400 bucks on shipping, just be patient. You should have no problem finding a nice one in the range you stated closer to you. Good luck with your first pin!
These are a couple of other nice first timer pins that are not more than a days round trip from San Diego...
Great suggestions. I will have to talk to my parents about this,(Yes, I live with my parents.) and since my 20th birthday is in 3 weeks, I hope I can snag my first pin for my birthday.
Quoted from jayhawkai:There's one on mrpinball.com I believe. You'll easily find on in your price range.
I sent an email to that guy who owned it, mentioning that I needed to know what the shipping costs would be.

He sold it on Sunday. Well, back to the drawing board.
Quoted from stevebighead:if you want to drive up to NoCal there is one for 900 in Oakland...
here's the link
no images though.
Quoted from kwiKimart:Is it me, or the checkered pattern overused in this flyer?

Just PM'd you.
Quick update: I've contacted the seller and it's a restored Checkpoint, done by PT (maybe PJ) in Culver City, CA. Anyone heard of this guy?

Did I miss something Kwiki? would this not be your second pin? or is TSPP imaginary?
Anyways looks like you have a good lead in Ncal.
Best of luck

It's an old thread. And I'll be 21 in September.
Pretty far from you, but here's one:

You're probably aware, but if the DMD on the game goes out, you're pretty well hosed, as they're not reproduced to the best of my knowledge. Cool-looking game, though!

MAD Amusements has the 128x16 DMDs. $159
Check that. $199 but they are out-of-stock. They do make them, but you're right that they aren't always available.

Hey guys.
Unless he has a secret supplier, MAD's stock will run out eventually. The 128x16 DMD and replacement glass has been discontinued for a while now. AND, just to make sure everyone knows, what he stocks occasionally is only the glass portion of the DMD. Looks to be in stock at the moment.

It does not come with the PCB. So, you'd have to swap them out with the original PCB, which is a lot of soldering.
There is an alternative though. PinLed does make a replacement.

Saw that one, not much info there.
