Starting my hunt for a BOP. Looking for something I can play this time not a project, but I'll take what I can get.
Morning bump. Looking for one in driving distance of WI, impossible to get time off at work right now.
I looked awhile for mine. They're out there. Keep looking. I PM'd other pinsiders with the game and eventually found one.
This is the first machine I'm hoping to get ready to play. Everything else was or still is a project

If your ever in the area your welcome to come over and check out mine.

I appreciate it. Don't think I've had my hands on one in 10 years. When I manage to get one that will make 4 out of 5 on the list with 2 of them still here
Quoted from Pdxmonkey:$1400-$2000
Before the Bop 2.0 kits were announced
So that has driven the price up? Even though the kit is also quite expensive. With the kit its going to be around a $4000+ game? I wonder if they would sell for that (with the kit)?

Before the Bop 2.0 kits were announced
Yeah I would say that too. With the 2.0 kit coming out it's going to make it a really new and exciting game and who wants to put it in a beat up game. People will be buying the game, restoring them and then putting the 2.0 in it. Only so many of the originals are out there so the supply may drive up the price of them. But like anything else pin related only time will tell.
Quoted from cooked71:Im just trying to decide if BOP with 2.0 installed is as good as another title I can buy for $4000+?
Yes is sure is . Bride 2.0 makes new games seem out dated .
Quoted from Tallon:Problem is, I'm kind of a purest so I'm just looking for a straight BOP. not looking to upgrade to a 2.0 kit. Just want my girl to live.
I hear ya, me too but I wouldn't mind my girl all prettied up and lookin good.
I don't know...I picked up my BoP and I have zero intentions of going 2.0 with it. I like the original game. Part of the attraction for me is that it's a late 80's/early 90's, pre-dmd.
I'm going to redo the playfield and the cabinet is getting new decals on mine. But that's about it.
In the end the 2.0 kit, TO ME, is not worth it. I can't stomach an upgrade that costs more than the machine that, to me, doesn't change things enough to call it a brand new game. The software and DMD don't change the physical layout of the machine. If the 2.0 kit came with a new playfield layout or something snazzy, maybe that's different.

No problem there,
Another reason I believe less are coming up for sale is that the repo PF's are schedule for release.
Along with all the other ramps and plastic are easily obtainable.
Hence the looking for one now and now waiting for everything else to happen. I don't need it tomorrow, just want to get one.
Yah I'm still looking too.I have been following the sales lately and more or less the prices are as follows:
Routed/projects 1000-1500
Good unrestored 1500-2000
Good restored 2000-2500
very good restored to excellent 2500-4000
HEP 7000
Yep. Pretty much spot on. Figure something will shake loose or someone won't want to take one home from MGC

Despite the static layout, the sound, dots, and rules do make it feel like a while new experience. That said, if you are in love with 1.0 like I am, the 2.0 upgrade isn't worth the hefty price tag yet. It certainly has the potential to be, particularly if they can improve the 1.0 experience.
Quoted from Hoopjohn:I suspect there are lots of BOP owners (including me) that have no intention whatsoever in buying the 2.0 upgrade. Complete 2.0 kit is $1950. Of course I would enjoy playing BOP 2.0 to satisfy my curiosity. 2.0 is yet another mod that most likely won't increase its future resale value.
it will increase the value, but not nearly on a dollar for dollar basis
Quoted from Tallon:You guys are killing me. All I'm hearing is "blah blah blah...I have a BOP and you don't".
I didn't say that..........yet

I bought BOP last summer. It was the exact machine I played at the Ohio Pinball Show two years ago that started my addiction. Had zero machines before, 6 now. I hope you pick one up soon!
I don't like the idea of going to 2.0 because I love the animations and presentation they were able to pull off with the alphanumeric display.

fully replicated in 2.0

I understand that, but it's not the same. They really pulled off a lot with the little they had to work with. Displaying that on a screen isn't the same, especially when bundled with the cool presentation of 2.0.

Have you gotten a good look at 1.0 emulated? The look is great. The only major difference is the panel in front is different. They even programmed some glow into the "off" segments.

From what i've been reading, the 1.0 version emulation in 2.0 is absolutely woeful and does not compare to how the original works, to the point some 2.0 owners are saying if it is not fixed they would likely remove the 2.0 kit!

The emulation is pinmame. It plays correctly and sounds like crap, I know because I have it. The post this was was started from was about not wanting 2.0 because he liked the animations from the original. Those animations are still in and look fantastic.

I've also read it does not play cohesively, with 2.0 owners reporting lag between switch pickups and it being processed through pinmame in real time play. Along with your self admitted "sounds like crap", sounds like an (in current form) expensively effective way to kill your original BoP game.

understood, and as an avid BoP fan, in case they are unaware, i'm just letting them know there are bigger issues at hand in 1.0 emulation than what the display screen is doing.

There's lag. It doesn't play perfect but 2.0 is such an improvement over the original code I would have a hard time going back even if it was spot on.

Yep, for those that really want 2.0 and what is currently offers, then great. I'm kinda in the middle. I would like the option of 2.0 with a more complete ruleset, while maintaining the original in it's proper form. From what i've seen so far, 2.0 from whats been offered out of the box looks pretty average, and the fact it ruins the original game will see me steer clear for now.
maybe the should have designed a rotating display.(original rotate to 2.0) just like the brides face. LOL

it plays absolutely correctly (beta 1.091 with the lane change working). switch lag is minor as worst. it does not in any way change the game play or make it unplayable. when I say it sounds like crap, i mean it sounds like it does in all the digital versions.

I must have worse lag than you as mine is beyond a minor annoyance. I am still waiting for someone smarter than me to outline an adjustment to reduce this annoying lag.
