What's up Doc?

PS: What's Up, Doc? is a Looney Tunes cartoon directed by Robert McKimson, and released by Warner Bros. Pictures in 1950 to celebrate Bugs Bunny's 10th birthday that year, in which he recounts his life story to a reporter from the "Disassociated Press".

It has the slang meaning of 'the person who is in charge of a situation'…or 'the person who makes the decisions.” Another form of this use is “You're the doctor,” meaning “ You are the expert; it is for you to decide.” Bugs is of course being sarcastic when he asks the hunter “What's up Doc?”

The carrot-chewing scenes are generally followed by Bugs' most well-known catchphrase, "What's up, Doc?", which was written by director Tex Avery for his first Bugs Bunny film, A Wild Hare (1940). Avery explained later that it was a common expression in his native Texas and that he did not think much of the phrase.

Have you thought about having an original restored?

John

#16 4 years ago

Thank you, John,

Perry Dilbeck is restoring it and trying to do exactly that. Being OCD, I thought I would keep on asking.
Merry XMas and I really appreciate you.
Still want to talk to you about the proper etiquette about displaying playfields. Shoot me a pm if you care to educate me.

Not much to show really. 125 playfields hanging from the ceiling along with a few others scattered around. Come see it in person in November.

Nice to see interest in this game. I had two NOS PFs for years. In the last three months I’ve had four people asking. Both are now sold. They weren’t easy to find. Good luck in your search.

Good luck with your project. Always wanted a restored Bugs - and HEP was going to do one for me - but that dream is gone due to lack of space and games of more interest to my daughter twenty-some years after her first machine.

I am patiently waiting!

PS: This guy sticks his head against the lanai door every morning and patiently waits for a carrot!
