3Q of 2015 for what? Starting to build them or deliver them? At a build rate of 2 games a week some of these will push into 2016.

I would like to add that, no matter when this game gets built, it will be worth the wait. It is a fantastic game that is tons of fun and created by 2 of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

The answer is quite simple. 100 games. I don't think people realize how much it costs to only run 100 of a game specific part. Molds can be crazy expensive and when you divide that up between only 100 games the BOM gets pretty high very quickly. You are comparing Stern and JJP and their $6500 games, but they are making THOUSANDS of those games. It is quite easier to keep your retail down when you consider that. Hell that fact alone coupled with how feature rich this game is, I am quite shocked they were able to keep it at the 8k mark. Remember. This is a 2 man company trying to do this on the side of their everyday jobs. They cannot devote the time and money needed to just run 1000 and see what happens. It's just not feasible.

It's already been stated many times that Stern and JJP are not interested in producing this game.

Most likely the run size. And before you say "well just make more", remember, the more you make the more money you need up front (which Riot, at this time, does not have).

Oh they could do a lot more than just dot coloring with their setup!

Not saying this is what this game needs, but the potential is there if they choose to do so!

Where can people sign up for a spot to help meet the 100 number though? I'm interested in signing up and can't find the thread if it is here on Pinside.

I'm not sure there is a list anymore. I'd contact Scott directly and ask him what your, if any, options are.

Quoted from kaneda:

So when these guys were trying to sell spots, I recommended something that they never did: TELL US HOW MANY SPOTS ARE SOLD! If you have a goal, let people know how many you need to reach that goal. They were always quiet about the number sold, which leads me to believe they were nowhere near 100. But still, tell us. Whether it's 10 more spots to go or 70, just tell people. This way people could rally and work together to reach the finish line.

Just for the record, Scott did state where they were just before the deadline. If you go back through his posts you can easily find it.
