Most people would say POTC if all pins where in same condition and same price. I would personally take Sopranos. Loved the show. It's the pin that made me want to start buying pins for home use.

The safe seems cheap and shotty, but from what I've heard it holds up well in the home environment.

Tommys more fun than the other 3.

I dont think you can wrong with any of them, but id say potc was overvalued. The others are around 3k, WPT closer to 2500. I like sopranos a lot, very fun game.

Potc doesn't seem to have much staying power at home, at least if it's an only pin or one of 2 or 3. Sopranos just doesn't get old.. At least it hasn't yet for me safe is sturdy as hell and always fun to shoot. Call outs are great and multi balls are so much fun.. Plus theme song never gets old.

1. Sopranos. Out of them I find it the most fun. I enjoy the way the game progresses. The layout is very similar to LOTR, and I enjoy the software.

2. WPT - I hate the callouts, but the game has depth to shoot for. If you pick it, follow the advice for the changes to only stop the ball on the river. It makes the game flow a lot better. You won't make it to Keefer Invitational

Tommy - Depends on the copy. I've played good ones and really liked it. I've played poor shooting ones and hated it. I don't like that you don't have to finish modes to progress, so you end up in a frenzy of hit the spinner to light the start and get the next mode going

POTC - I am not a fan. To me it is the same feeling as monopoly with a short shot that loops back. That shot never feels right to me. I don't like the sound, and overall I've always felt blah playing it. Even off the plunge that plastic at the top never seems right. I know some people love it, but I never have.

For me, Sopranos by a long shot. I'm not a fan of the show. Never watch one episode, so that doesn't come into play at all. It has a great deal of depth and flows so beautifully. It's a blast to play with a ton of stacking opportunities. The only down side is the game can be forgiving and this can lead to long ball times. The adult mode is funny, but doubt I would enable that if I owned one.

Tommy is alot of fun. Good rule set, but not one that I need to own. I find the sounds annoying. I like the shot layout and, for the most part, I like most of the modes. I borrowed one years ago and enjoyed it, but didn't like it enough that I missed it when it went. Cann't put my finger on it. It's just ok.

POTC. What a shame! Great looking game, but so dull. Almost every shot (except for Jack the Monkey) stops the ball. Decent rules and I always enjoy playing one or two games when I see it, but it gets old fast. And it is very, very forgiving. I've had really long games on POTC and beat Davy Jones at a friends place. I love the theme, love the look of it, love the boat, and love the spinning disk. I just wish the game was faster. It it was faster, I think I would enjoy it more. I find the ball "floats" alot and combined that with stopping the ball on every shot and I find it dull. I have literally wanted to walk away from it not long ago. The free game score was rather low and I kept winning free games. After the third game, I did walk away with a full credit remaining.

I've heard WPT is a great game, but I just cann't get into it. I've played it many times, but it does absolutely nothing for me. Maybe I need one at home to appreciate it, but it holds zero appeal to me. It looks awful, sounds awful, and I find it boring to play. It would be dead last for me.

White Water is a very different animal (being the first non-Stern in this). Personally (I know this may be inflammatory), White Water isn't worth the price it goes for. It was 5 years ago, but the cost went up too much for what it provides. It is a fine game, and I play it when I can, but it isn't great.

If you want to hear "where's the f$cking money" every 10 seconds then spoor- anos is for you. Bleh!

i could never get into white water, I know a lot of people love it, but it's not for me. too much of the playfield is hidden and I just don't find the shots to be fun. I would much rather own Sopranos over Wh20, and i do.

Since this is a "one and only", I'd go with either WPT or Wh20.

Both are very different and unique.

Dont know where your from but I may be putting my "documented" with receipt HUO POTC up for sale its perfect in every way with less than 300 plays since new.I know this because it was running on the original software when I bought it ( had 78 plays ) Updated and now has a little over 200. Goodie bag still stapled in and all paperework. Inside still smells like it just came out the box, cointaker premium nonghosting throughout, mirror glazed balls, red superbands with white rubber and gold pin cab protectors.Playfield waxed with PLEXUS .Its an aircraft windshield wax ( 50 bucks a can ) Plays super sweat!!! Not a nick or scuff anywere and looks just like it came out the box. 5300. PM me if interested in owning one .

Sopranos the best of the 4. POTC looks great but gameplay is not there. Had Tommy and it is just ok. WPT is ugly and just average on gameplay. Whitewater is better than all. top 20 game for a reason. Great art game play and call outs. Also very fun shots and challenging.

I recently passed on a beautiful HUO Sopranos because I was concerned about the long ball times (can be LOTR long I've heard). I regret it now. I should've picked it up. At worst I could've had my fun with it for a while and then sent it on down the road.

Another vote for sopranos, very good game, don't know if it's got staying power, but a great game to say the least, then my second would be pirates, very under estimated in my opinion.

I haven't played the others enough to offer an educated opinion about them, but I CAN say that WPT is a fun game!

If you enjoy poker at all, it's definitely worth owning to appreciate all that it has to offer as far as scoring options and rules features. What it may comparatively lack in playfield toys and audio-video elements, it more than makes up for in unique gameplay and strategy alternatives.

Can the Tommy supporters chime in with more detail? I just feel like it's a wait out all the modes and advance type of game. I play it frequently on location and never really got the one more game feeling from it.

Tommy is my all time favorite, I have a WPT on the way, and Sopranos is in my top 10. I've had Tommy for a few years now. Yes, some of the modes are pointless for big scoring but very few modes block starting another mode. Those that do are typically worth playing. It has a great 3 level multiball (collect ramp jackpots for level 1, make 5 mirror shots for level 2, collect super jackpot for 250M or double super on the side ramp for 500M). Fun wizard mode - 6 ball chaos. The blinders is a great toy, one of my favorites. Great sound. Bowen's tutorial wraps it all up pretty nicely.

IMO, it's the best pin you can buy for under 3K. Put it on the Underhill tab.

Haha. Thanks for that. Seen bowen's tutorial multiple times and that's pretty much how I try to attack it each time. I guess since there doesn't seem to be multiple ways to attack the game, that doesn't keep me coming back as the other games on the list have. WPT took me a bit to warm up to, but after learning all the deep rules and strategy is has, I love it now. Terrible theme and artwork aside.

I'm curious as to why you consider WPT a "terrible" theme. Cards (and gambling) have a long history as a popular theme in pinball and when the game was issued, World Poker Tour, as well as poker on TV in general, were very hot.

As far as the artwork goes, I won't attempt to defend WPT's backglass art, but with a few mods and additions of color, the overall game can take on more of a casino look. Somewhat garish perhaps, but I like having a game with more of an adult Vegas-like gambling theme.

That game looks really nice, but I cannot think of a more boring theme than poker/gambling. I'm a fan of super heroes, action, sci fi type themes. I firmly believe that the theme of WPT is why it is not more highly regarded and the main reason why it doesn't command a higher price. Everyone's tastes are different. Other themes that I have no interest in (mustang, nascar, big buck hunter)

Fair enough - theme appreciation is definitely a personal thing.

One last thing about WPT: the audio is not up to the standards of newer games either, but this gives me an excuse to blast some Rat Pack tunes while I go for the big scores!

Tommy would be my choice - very good playfield layout with plenty of satisfying shots make it a very fun game to play. The combo shots are very fun and fast. The mode variety is good. The blinders are a brilliant toy that change the entire game when in action - try hitting the loops with these on is very difficult and fun! Tommy looks great in most environments too. Tommy with the pinsound board re orchestrations makes it a top 20 game for me. Tommy will continue to rise in value because of the new software and Pinsound.

POTC and Sopranos are good games, but don't have near the long term replay factor compared to Tommy in my opinion.

Look, the games you are asking about are clearly not for the same price, for an above average example, the median pricing structure would go like this:
POTC: $4800
WH2O: $4000
Sopranos: $3700
Tommy: $3000
WPT: $2800

So, if you can get a POTC, Wh2O or a Sopranos for the same price as a Tommy or WPT, get either of the three more expensive pins that you feel fits your playing preference the best. Personally, the best value on your list is WPT. I've played every game on this list and the only one I would own (again) is WPT, without question.

Tommy is my favorite of the three. Best of the Data East machines, IMO.

I agree that prices are not all the same for those 4 pins, but some of those median prices look high to me. A sopranos just sat for a month on here at 2800 until it was lowered again to 2500. I'd say it's a 3 to 3.2k machine in most areas though usually- in decent condition. Pirates more like 4200 to 4500, and wpt more like 2500

Sopranos has wider appeal and is just a really fun game, wpt is a deeper more difficult game. I have sopranos and would love to own wpt.

Hmm...Tommy has the blinders which may be the best trick in pinball ever....but it's a DE and the worst theme of them all (uff even worse than WPT). It's horribly overpriced now so I would throw that thing out.

Sopranos . Was my "one and only" for a year. Huge fan of show so I get a lot of the nuances in the game. Fan layout is fun, so is stacking modes. Always fun earning up to underboss and boss mode. Great multi balls, jackpots. I never got bored with it. I had to move it because it was collateral for another pin, plus my 1 year old likes to play. It would be hard justifying the pole dancers to him at his age. That's the only downfall...out of all the pins you mentioned, its the least "family friendly" machine. Just something you may have to consider.
Oh, unless you are absolutely restricted on space(you can always find room) the whole "one and only" may soon change to...."just one more...." And thus the bug takes over and your collection may grow... . Best of luck with your decision.

Sopranos is my first pin and I will never sell it. The adult theme is awesome with adults and can be censored. Layout is great. Everyone loves the thing. But I think GB will become the favorite in the game room when it comes.

Original safe and its holding up fine. May replace the left side of safe as I recently got new flipper hardware and the ball is now smashing it pretty good. The one side is getting a little warped where the ball hits the most. You can buy replacement safe let and right sides for 26 bucks each so no biggie

Good to know. When I get one, it's never leaving either. Funhouse got me into pinball in my teens, and Sopranos got me back into pinball in my late 20s.

Got all purple LEDs lighting the playfield too. My buddy just found one in upstate NY. $3500 estate sale, less than 500 games on it.

My WPT isn't going anywhere, but I gotta admit that this thread has made me look at Sopranos with a new perspective. I loved the series and the game looks like it could be a lot of fun. I like the aesthetic improvement potential that alternate translites and LEDs offer too.

I'm officially adding it to my list of games for future consideration!
