Is there an advantage to all original besides being able to say "all original components"?

Genuinely curious as I have a Congo w a blown AV board in a repair queue.

#3 2 years ago

Even if you had a PinSound I think you still need this board for the dot matrix display.

#4 2 years ago

They released a kit that circumvents the need for the board and I was on the fence but decided to have the board repaired. Just asking if there is any major difference is between OG and PinSound.

They actually released a kit that circumvents the need for the board at roughly $500.

Good, get two of them then.

? -- Pinsound quality is bad? What are you saying?

If you're upset with me for asking, I am simply trying to learn. I don't care if he lists the thing for $750, $1, or whatever makes sense. Guy has a board, is knowledgable and helpful in other posts, thought I would ask a question to learn.

I am saying that when you bought TOM from me and later offered it back to me for $1200 more, now you are shitting on the guy who spent 7 hours of his time delivering it at your place at 9:00 at night.

#8 2 years ago

You asked to buy it back. I never offered it. The price I gave is $1000 less than they go for on average.

You offered to drive after I passed on the game because I was intimidated by something I didn't understand when I was very new 8 years ago. I didn't make you do anything, you were very helpful then -- obviously something I did pissed you off.

I am not shitting on the dude.

I just wanted to understand why in a niche case one might be better than the other.

I should have just PM'd OP. My b.

You did piss me off. You shit on my friends for sale ad when we treated you very well.

My apologies, I understand why this is upsetting.

I didn't mean to say the price was an issue.

I meant to ask if there was a difference between the two items.

I should have just PM'd.

You were both very helpful and went above and beyond to help me when I was new.

supposedly you can run an original DMD driver board or pinsound makes an addon DMD card now. wanna know what its gonna cost you to the door from them? Little under 560 if you order it off front page or 464.80 if you can drill down to the game specific page and find it there. Either way, easier to just drop an original board thats 100% working and ready to go.

You need a standard DMD board that’s in every previous (Williams) DMD game , not the combined WPC95. No reason to buy the PinSound add-on specifically.

A regular old DMD board Sets you back maybe ~$80, and is readily available at various sites

Is it still the case that the WPC95 A/V boards have chips which are not able to be sourced any longer? That might be another upside to the PinSound/DMD combo.

But then again, this is all original, so probably worth it just to save the hassle.

yeah, no. went hunting for that too. Unless you know someone, 125ish now.

But yeah, my thought too. It s a spare just in case and trying to reclaim some shelf space not give a good backup away

I have a NOS spare that has never been used. I doubt I would sell it for this amount. I think price is appropriate.

Do it, neither I nor rottondog are making these right now I think. So it would be a good time.

I have 2 now. Coin-op Warehouse had one on FB for sale that was untested for $150. No brainer. Bought it and $5 in HV parts got it going again. I'd say an original working A/V board is in the $500-$600 range.
