WPC style wall hanging translite display

Added: 2019-03-26 23:00:00 UTC • Re-listed: 1 time (May 8th, 2019) • Ended: July 20th, 2019
Condition: New (selling multiple, business)

Price

$ 219 (Firm)

Price is firm

I wanted a unique way to display a few WPC translites that I had so I came up with a WPC style backbox but cut about 4" off the depth. I made these to WPC specs and even have the "dangling key" and translite lock....
On this one I wanted to use a dark stain, I think it would look good behind a bar or in a garage. I had a TOM translite I wanted to display and also had the matching speaker art panel, this piece allows me to display both
I came up with a faux DMD that doesnt look too bad, made some mdf speaker boards and used perforated steel for the speaker grills....It uses a standard williams "H" channel and "U" channel to hold it all together...backlit with strip LEDS, transformer and power button...

I Made a few extras and thought I would put them up for sale...if there is any interest I may make more...believe it or not these take quite a bit of labor and material costs so I would have to ask around $219 plus shipping

*does not include translite, glass or trim...comes with everything else, including generic speaker art panel

Here is one I did in black...I did not have the matching speaker art panel for my WH20 so I made a generic one that will be included with each display...

FYI the WH20 display is not turned on in any of those photos

The pictures appear to show lots of scratches and debris but its hard to get a pic that doesnt highlight the dust

#4 5 years ago

Extremely nice!

Thanks, Im going to make a few blue ones for WH20. And also working in a version to display system 11 back glasses...

#6 5 years ago

Looks great! Keep us updated on the System 11.

Backglass System 11 box is very interesting! Let us know

#10 5 years ago

Really creative and underpriced. Great work!

#11 5 years ago

Great idea. It would also be cool as a display for a run-DMD clock on a regular sized dmd.

The run DMD clock is the first thing I though of when I was trying to come up with an idea for the DMD display, I think that would look amazing, just not sure if I have enough room depth wise to fit one in....I also thought of installing blue tooth speakers but again, not enough room...

#13 5 years ago

looks great, nice work and would look a little cooler with a dmd sized dmd clock in it

again very nice

No plans for a Stern version as of yet...

This is such a great idea for a wall hanging. Well done. I really like it.

I just had a crazy idea with this, what if the translight was a tv and the “insert coin” section was an actual Run-DMD clock that plays real dmd animations. But with some added programming so that the teanslight game image changes to match the DMD clocks animation.

That would be awesome and sell a lot I bet. Pinside make it so.

Edit added- something like a virtual pin backbox that’s perpetually set on attract mode. You get the idea.

#17 5 years ago

What do you back light it with? thanks.

Here is what I am selling... everything needed to display a WPC translite. You will need to provide the translite of your choice, the glass and the plastic translite trim/lift channel.
Kit comes with:
Wood back box (painted or stained)
Translite lock/key
Power transformer (12v 5amp)
Power switch
5050 LED strips for faux DMD and translite illumination
Speaker panel with speaker grills and choice of a few different DMD "quotes"
Choice of a few different speaker art panels
Painted base "C" channel
Williams "H" channel

Possible custom DMD text or high score available, I know that "game over" and "insert coins" are seen more on video games than pins but I wanted something fairly generic...Im going to make a "Winners don't do drugs" for my own display but would like to hear some other suggestions...

The generic speaker art panel can easily be removed and replaced with game specific art panel if you have one (as seen in my TOM example in post #1)

At some point I will add blue as a back box color option for WH20 etc.

Thanks, I will be posting more options as I get them completed....

#23 5 years ago

Still have 2 available...

#24 5 years ago

Looks killer!!

#25 5 years ago

Thanks, I hope to have a system 11 version available soon. Its a challenge to come up with something to replicate an alpha-numeric look...

#26 5 years ago

You know, If I could figure out a way to power an old alpha numeric display, I think I understand the interface enough that I could build a simple clock driver around an Arduinio Uno.

Yes, I know Im moving slowly on the next version. My problem is I am trying to come up with a version that can incorporate the game specific speaker panel..however the system 11s have a bit of variation...

But I know the one you are interested in is EATPM which has the backglass covering the numeric display instead of a speaker panel. It almost looks like a 6803 head?

I am cutting a Bad Cats speaker panel this weekend to play with some ideas/options

Yeah, EATPM is a tricky one. Let me know if you run into any snags and I’ll try a DIY option. No rush.

Currently sold out. I will cut some more in a few weeks when my TOM restoration is complete...thanks for the interest

#33 4 years ago

Hey Cosmo, any chance you could make me a flat pack wpc full head? I can provide the large MDF backing and install everything myself. Just need the 4 sides and the other wood nuances. Hopefully this would be easier to ship and cheaper to ship as well.

Still need to put on the speaker panel.

#35 4 years ago

Thanks for posting those pics/video. Looks great, I love the color changing LEDs you added behind the door.
Please post a pic with the speaker panel in place, I think that is going to tie it all together.

I am finishing up a large project for my wifes upcoming birthday and my saws have been tied up lately...I will be done with the construction portion of the project in about a week and will be able to get those cut and sent out.
.

I have a few people wanting some complete displays as well, I think I told most of you it would be the end of this month, and I am still on schedule with those

#37 4 years ago

If anybody has any extra WPC translites or translites and speaker panel sets and wants to work out a trade for a display let me know...
