I just picked up a Dirty Harry machine. When I flip the power switch it takes a good 3 seconds before it comes to life. Is this normal?

Sounds about right--although it will vary some from game to game. The blanking circuit, which will turn off after about 3 seconds, keeps power from being applied to the game until the cpu has booted up.
Fantastic. Thanks for the replies. You should have seen the look of worry on my face when I flipped the switch after moving it into my basement and setting it up. 3 seconds are absolute horror! Then it turned on and all was well.
Quoted from shaub:3 seconds are absolute horror! Then it turned on and all was well.
You should buy a Gottlieb system 1 or system 80. After a restore, those will be the longest 5 seconds of your life.
