Just wanted to show my current project. It's called the WPC Power Monitor.
What does it do? It monitors all events on the connection from the WPC MPU to the Power Driver board. Based on these, it gets a full state of the lamp matrix, solenoids, flashers and GI.
What can you do with it? Think about it as a "Pinduino on Stereoids".
- shaker control
- light effects
- RGB GI
- ... you name it
The first "real" applications for this will be some mods on Attack from Mars:
- Shaker control
- Improved Ufo lights
Both hardware and software are open source. You can find it here:

https://github.com/pinballpower/code_wpcpowermon
I hope that others might also find it useful. Looking also forward to code contributions. I will start to add some effect implementations (addressable LEDs, shift-register control, shaker control) soon - based on the current AFM projects. I will also do some modding on BoP and MM.
While implementing your own mod will require some programming, the use of Python makes it quite easy even if you're not a great programmer. With the upcoming effects, it will become a matter of a few lines of code to implement some effects.
On the picture you can see the first prototype. There is already a new PCB release with 8 output channels (+serial) on Github.
