I've been getting a few resets of late. After about 20 mins or so.
I restored this Hurricane after a barn find and I've never had the Powerboard out. Until now.
Spurred on by repair videos and chats on Pinside by people who knowmuch more than I, I thought I'd at least take a look.
All my test points come up well, I think.

Mpu 5v on board 5.04 at plug on Mpu to J114
Looks to have been a cook out at J115 in the past.
I can't seen much else, obvious. I replaced the line filter and varister and thermistor a little while back as it tripped the house out all of a sudden. Fixed the issue.
Usual caps do seem a little bloated on top, but if I press it, it goes down, like the plastic is bowed nothing pushing it up.
Seems like 5v clean to MPU, but something is tripping it. All LEDs, no mods except an Afterglow board (like LED OCD) unplugging that still gives occasional resets..
I did think it "smelt" hot the other night, around the bridge rectifiers. I expect that's normal given the heat sink up there?
Seems to be some sort of "salt" on R224, pic attached!
The grey cap "looks" ok and as it's grey not blue (pinwiki mentions this cap comes in blue, made by Philips, often failing)
Any experienced eyes over the pics would be marvelous..
I'll give J115 a new connector, looks to be a burnt out pad there, but I think it's too side trace out. I don't know of I'm game enough for a C5 swap, although it looks bloated, 5v seems ok all the way to the MPU. I do have some chipquik and I have some experience with an iron and a desolder station, but I dunno.
Rob.
