I’m new to WPC games and I need some help. My trough optos were acting glitchy (kicking out an extra ball sometimes) so I ordered a new set and installed them. Powered her up and got the error in the picture. Checked the connections they appear fine but I reseated them on the trough optos and the opto PCB anyway. Checked the fuses and found a blown 4A fuse in F11B replaced it, turned it back on and it did not blow but I get the same error. Put the old boards back in and get the same error. Put another set of new boards in, same error. Something is wrong somewhere else but I can’t track it down.

Probably lost 12V somewhere. Pull the fuse again and measure the fuse continuity with a meter.

12V heads down to 3 of the 4 small connectors at the lower left of the power driver board. It then heads to an opto control board mounted under the playfield. It had one 0.156" connector and 3 small 0.100" connectors. Reseat the 12V connectors on power driver board and on the opto controller board under the playfield.

If you run through switch edge test and drop balls down the trough does anything register?

do you have voltage at the connector where it plugs in trough opto board? or are any of the wires loose on connector? have had to replace that connector on a couple of my wpc pins

Reinstall the fuse and check the 12V test point on the driver board. Do you have voltage?

So I finally had some time to do some testing on it. I have 12v (14.02) all the way to the trough optos. So I pulled the trough assembly out and took the boards off. Then I held them pretty close together and it would start a game. Next I put it in switch test and here is where this gets odd, they only seem to work when they are about an inch or less apart. If I move them any further apart then that they don’t work, which is a problem because they mount on the ball trough at a further distance. Additionally if I shine a flash light at the receiver board it reacts from a distance of about 5 inches, which leads me to believe that the problem is with the transmitter board. Further complication is that I have 3 sets of boards (2 new and 1 original) and any combination of them seems to behave the same way.
